When society discards deity based religions they look towards humanity. Worshiping the people that rule over and decide for you and others how to run your lives sounds pretty neat. Also you actually get a say in this control of others by voting for your representative to go out and do it for you. Don't like your "islamophobic" neighbor? Vote for the leader that will silence them with the threat of jail time or loss of income!
