It takes a long time, a very long time. A 30 minute internet test isn't worth anything.

But you can decrease it, things that decrease IQ tend to occur early in development, if you're violent to a child, spank/hit or even if you're unduly aggressive around a child, you can shave off a good few IQ points. Same with nutrition, an under nourished child have up to 5 IQ points shaved off, typically breast feeding is the best for the baby.

Staying healthy in older age can help slow the decline of IQ over age. Better circulation and better oxygenation of the brain stops decay.

IQ tests don't measure knowledge, they measure several different factors about the limits and capability of your brain. So they measure things like the ability to hold information in short term memory and then manipulate that information mentally and accurately.

Sometimes that's simply long strings of numbers, the ability to spot patterns and infer the next logical pattern.

Visual ability to be able to mentally manipulate 3d objects by rotating and transposing them.

Lingual ability, to understand language, manipulate it, spot linguistic patterns, etc.

They do test your ability to apply logic but you need very little in the way of comprehension of logic to do IQ tests.

Your ability to do logical operations in your head is limited fundamentally by your neural architecture, there's only so much information you can store in your short term memory and manipulate mentally.

It's sort of like having a physical calculator on your desk, with an LCD display, and that LCD display has a certain length, and so you can do mathematical operations on that calculator only to the point where the length of the number can fit on the screen, otherwise it cannot display the number.

That's kinda like what IQ is measuring in your brain, it's the physical limits of the information you can store and manipulate. The manipulations themselves are often so basic that anyone can do them, that's deliberate, to rule out knowledge of logical operations.

That's why you'll often seen patterns that rotate and mutate in a number of steps, you don't really need "logic" as such to be able to rotate a pattern mentally.
