modern engagements don't occur as "massive land battles"

The M4/M16 platform overall is better, more modular, lighter, arguably has more killing power due to the tumbling of the rounds in the target, more accurate, less recoil etc.

However neither would really be a deciding factor in a land war with Russia.

Why do people in my country see Russia as a military threat in a land war. The Soviets were a threat and they collapsed in the 90's for Christs sake. The only reason they still are considered a threat is the Nuclear Arsenal.
