I think that around half died of purposeful gassings and shootings while the other half died of starvation. I personally think that Hitler did not know about the systematic genocide, since the genocide started in 1943 almost 3 years after the camps had been set up, and there are documents of Hitler saying he will solve the final solution to the Jewish problem after the war, and that all the talk that Himmler and others did was to be seen as just talk. There are letters of course of officers confirming that prisoners did work on roads and other things, as Hitler intended. But I feel that since there is no archived documents of Hitler ever knowing about the systematic extermination of Jews I don't think he knew, and that National Socialism was co opted by people like Himmler. Then again, thats just my theory

You know who made that number? A Jewish Nazi Hunter who admitted he used it because 6M is important in Jewish history.

Think for a second, would a country fighting literally everybody and losing on three fronts somehow have enough resources to kill and hide 6M bodies. The US had more mechanized trucks than all of Axis alone. Germany had more horse drawn equipment than Russia and the US, and more horses than Napoleon.

Ive broken into Slaughterhouse 5 and been in Auschwitz and the killing fields of Cambodia. Auschwitz doesnt make sense as a kill camp. The layout is poor. Its built as a prison using Panopticon theory which means the Jews should be able to see the chambers at work and panic and riot. A shitload of Jews were former WW1 vets. In Cambodia they kept everyone isolated with torture rooms spaced out to prevent a mass panic.

So either Germans spent a bunch of money they didnt have setting up a Potemkin camp or they built a prison that was wracked by typhus, dysentery and bombs just like their other camps and adhoc POW camps like SH5.
