Fuck you could and should include the old school atheists too: They didn't want to remove morality or tradition. They wanted to change the things they thought were bad about them so that the important parts of those would stand stronger.

If you've ever read The Selfish Gene (which came out in the eighties IIRC) you'll know what I'm talking about. The ENTIRE book is about how morals are a natural built-in part of being human. Daniel C Dennett's books too are about morals from a biological viewpoint. It's interesting that all the really smart people tend to want to keep morals and traditions, but they see parts about them that they want to change.
