The best part of Netherlands is their trips, they got great customer service. Once you reach destination better stay in hotel, unless you like to party, just don't expect native cuisine, you find more Jamaican/Asian food than Netherlands food. Also like OP said, not many European people.

The centre is basically being converted to one big tourist resort by AirBNB tourism, and sky high rent for even the smallest apartments. Most Dutch people have moved to neighboring cities and outskirts of the city.
Last couple of years 'native' Amsterdammers have been complaining about this in general, but as we are currently in between governments nothing is happening.
These things aside Amsterdam has always been hated by 90% of the Dutch people who do not live there.
