Just think about the economic prosperity: in Germany the 1950s are called the time of the "Wirtschaftswunder", which translates into "The Economic Miracle".
There was a MASSIVE boom in economy which gave rise to a very prosperous middle class, people were able to afford good food, nice clothes, and for the first time cars.

The economic situation was so much better. A man could easily feed his family alone, which today both parents have to work and might still live from paycheck to paycheck.

That alone is a reason to idealize the 50s.

Nor should they. For example, it is a hegemonic idea that "democracy for all" is the peak of societal evolution. Why should someone who has no stake in the nation be given an equal vote to a landowner or a business owner? IMO people should only gain the right to vote if they own land, housing, or a business. Yes, this will disproportionately effect minorities, largely because they have lower IQ's and thus are less likely to be in such positions. However, this is perfectly alright and beneficial for the nation.

Living standards have gone down in all African countries since decolonization (UN data) thanks to aids and economic chaos brought by pseudo-communist thugs, while social inequality has increased worldwide.

The world is better off economically since the 1970s ONLY if you live in Southern Europe, East or Southeast Asia, or some parts of Latin America.
