lol I'm also remembering a US military base is in Qatar. The only point of that is so you don't get attacked. SA attacking Qatar with no Trump response means that US bases do not confer military protection. Qatar already exports there gas production by LNG.

A lot of this is due to Saudi politics, as the Saudi's are much more active under there current king and his son. A lot is also due to what happened with the Arab Spring and what happened in Egypt. You may recall that the Muslim Brotherhood gained control and then was overthrown by the military. Qatar and its media outlet was the only supporter of the Muslim brotherhood, who most of these nations view as there biggest internal security threat.

Also, lastly, Russia is not backing any pipeline, as they want to be the sole shipper of gas to europe outside of the LNG
