I could be stupid, so correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I've been seeing it; From what I gathered he's on the record saying that the president obstructing justice is a huge deal, something that's never happened, and he would've done something if he felt that was the case. So by saying that Trump obstructed justice he would implicate himself for both lying under oath (because those statements were both pre-this debacle) and also not informing someone about it happening when he should have. Like I said, feel free to correct me if this isn't the case I'm genuinely curious.
