Fahrenheit 451.

Animal farm is baby's first red pill, 1984 is great and should be read early and often tho. Brave New World is a lot closer to our reality...

Other than that? Road to Serfdom, Atlas shrugged, and if you're a creative type, grab "the Fountainhead"

The real red pill is realising that the real problem plaguing the West isn't "Jews" or "Muslims" but our own lack of belief in ourselves, and pride in what we were and what we could become.

You should read The 9/11 Commission Report
It was a best seller on release and is really well put together.
What amazed me is Bin Laden had very little involvement in the plot. Bin Laden put Khalid Sheik Mohammed (the mastermind) in touch with the Hamburg Cell and gave a little money. That's it!!!!
Conspiracy theorists and their melting steel beams are dumb as fuck because they never read the official report. If they did, they would see the biggest conspiracy was right in front of them.

Nietzsche was one of the main inspirations of Bowden.
>Nietzsche’s philosophy isn’t for everybody. It’s too harsh and too forbidding for many people. But it is a way of thinking which is reflexive and absolute. It’s a way of thinking which is primordial and extraordinarily Western. It’s a way of thinking that enables people to be religious, in the sense of the sacredness of life, but also to be open to fact, and to evidence, and to science. It combines those things that lead to glory. And express themselves through tenderness and ferocity.

1984 is a pretty big red pill, but only in the sense that it shows how the Proles remain indifferent and distracted with sports and TV in the face of terrorism every single day. They never do anything about it

IMO Brave New World is much better.

>society is segmented into a caste system from birth through genetics
>almost like Nazi eugenics, although people are happy because they get free goodies all the time
>portrays socialism as a wildly successful ideology that makes everyone soft
>in the end there's no family, no commitment and no freedom - but free sex, drugs, expensive homes, and you're engineered to feel joy when doing menial work

I've never read Island, never even heard of it until recently. Anyone read it? Any good?

I actually met Irving once when I was unemployed and was speaking in my city. Literally used the last bit of money in my pocket to pay my way in. After the talk, when we were all talking a bit more intimately it led to me saying I wasn't going to be buying anything, and explained why, so he gave me Hitler's War and Churchill's War (first volume) and said to pay him back when I'm back on my feet. I absolutely did, with interest as well. What a lad he is.

desu Neitzsche was an overrated philosopher and an underrated novelist. Thus Spoke Zarathustra was basically a Buddhism for the western man. It was him toying with writing his own religious book and I'm surprised it didn't turn into a cult, like some other German books at the time (Vril-tards still have a following on /x/, especially since Call of Duty and Zombies made people fanboy it.)

The book is far better than the film. That being said, the film is a bit surreal because of the fact that it was filmed using live actors, and then the footage was taken and given an animation overlay.

Crime and Punishment. deals with innermost demons and deconstruction of the ego. The events that unfold after "the moment" shed light on human morality and how we try to escape it but inevitably fail each time.

On the same reading level as the rest of these basic recommendations
>>
>>128785421
I honestly think Orwell was disillusioned by communists and what they were turning into. Catalonia was under the banner of Marxism, but essentially anarchist. He'd served in the British military occupying Burma and saw executions, then worked for BBC basically fabricating news and couldn't take it any more. He saw that the Soviets funneled money into Catalonia and destroyed it with their authoritarian brand of communism, and Orwell's hopes for making a better, new society were ruined. He probably realized something deeper about human nature, which is intrinsically terrible and why his books mostly reflect this.

Also unrelated
>Roadside Picnic
I just started reading this, it's a lot better than the movie but written very simply in a style I'm unsure I like. I do like the "simpleton as an author/narrator" type books, because they can explore so much more in simple terms, but this is a little weird. Maybe translation error.

>ayy lmaos land a few decades ago
>they leave and never contact us, leaving the whole world feeling dumb (Were we not worthy?)
>leave their trash behind, it becomes a hot commodity
>people go to retrieve their shit, get sucked into shadows and ground into powder, or fly through walls, or just vanish, or their bones disappear
>makes the relics even more valuable

The movie was fantastic, the director filmed it in a Soviet industrial city and a lot of the cast got cancer from it. I think it was critiquing capitalism and consumerism as fetishizing the danger to set a higher price, but also critiquing the Soviet closed cities, which everyone knew were killing the surrounding villages but were of course silenced from talking about.

I tried Mein Kampf but honestly the size of it put me off after a few chapters. I will come back to it eventually. What's the most reader friendly red pill book you can think of?

It's always been my belief that his dying from TB was a slow suicide. He could have easily paid for treatment in America (post-war Britain couldn't treat him), but he instead chose to shut himself away in a farmhouse in the Hebrides, with just a heater, a lamp, a camp bed, and a typewriter.

It's obvious that /pol and the alt-right is post modernist in at least some aspects, just associated with a different base ideology (liberalism, cuckservatism, or natsoc depending on who you are). I kind of agree, with that one jock who stole Gatsby's girl. He had everything, but was constantly worried about muh rising tide of color, muh savages taking over, muh white superiority. Gatsby just wanted companionship and to be happy on a personal level, in spite of his own downfalls. It's heavily implied that he was involved in booze.

Has-been, might be again. If we give up before any assertion has even expressed of a desire to stop the decline, then we're not going to save very much, are we?

What we love will never be again, not for us, but it might be for our children, or our grandchildren. Look at it from a Burkean standard, and its easier to get strength from.

Glad to see the Brave New World recommendations. I recently finished a reread of it (had not read it since high school). It definitely has both 1984 and Handmaid's Tale beat in terms of where we are headed.

I was looking up reviews of the book and found this good essay that discusses it both in terms of its reception at the time it came out and how relevant it is for today:

the real red pill is not one that tries to give a solution. a red pill makes you see the problem. not the solution. the solution has been in the hands of man since its first attempt on a personal level to its greatest attempts at a global level. its up to us as a people and as a person to surmount and overcome that which we know personally and as a faction as well as a whole ... as the problem in our life and out of love the lives of those we love that we don't even yet know. the truth is that we want peace. that is the final redpill. every man seeks peace. we all see different ways of getting there but when it boils down to it that is all anyone wants. and the truth is that even to the individual, the mentality that acknowledges this want for peace is part and parcel to the inevitable dissatisfaction with having it unto ourselves. we care about others so viemently in their pursuit that we will go to war in others names to pursue it. we want non scarcity, we want accomplishment, we want honor, and we want purpose. every human being. the true redpill is this. everyone here knows this innately but gets so wrapped up in the pursuit of it in this particular way or that they envelope this fight into their very being in such a manner that it becomes an archetype. an archetype within you personality that governs your actions at a core stimulus in- reaction out manner. this archetype governs the thoughts within your own mind. it creates the very non peace you sought to wipe out in your pursuit of it. it is self defeating via your own nature. the solution to that which you see via the true redpill is to stop fighting, first exteriorly and by proxy allowing yourself to stop fighting internally. by attaining this peace you can see clearly to understand the folly with which all the fighting to attain peace has wrought. its right there, waiting for us to cooperate, but there are so many pride based hurdles its impossible to affect the change needed to attain it.

the truth is sobering, and blunt and no one responds to people telling everyone to stop fighting. there is a war to be won after all. but the truth is, the war started to stop warring. we argue about everything from the best way to farm ourselves via politics, to a worthless piece of paper that has you over the barrel of survival. its all illusion and no one wants to stop seeing it. that's what the redpill does. it stops the illusion no matter how unfun it may be to put down your swords and seek inner peace.

because we cannot affect the change to anyone other than ourselves. we cannot convince our enemy to do the same even if we could convince ourselves

that is why you must seek it yourself. personally. it is the only way the world will truly come about as a whole and not as a part or a faction becoming the lamb for slaughter. greed is a misused archetype, it is there for a reason, and it is this in particular. if you use your greed to seek your own inner peace at the behest of your relationship with others you will find it enough in yourself to give to others. that is the good news.

you read it or you wouldn't have responded, however your lack of an argument attempt at a retort only proves the point. the real red pill isn't fun and it isn't a joke. its sobering and no one comes to have fun and also be sobered. thusly this place is a farce. it doesn't seek a red pill, it seeks to be edgy and contrarian as it always has.

when you seek to stop fighting yourself you will find that self discipline is the only means to do it. the type of self discipline involved will more often than not lead you to change as a person. people notice, people distance themselves from you. youre too meta, youre too out there. the truth is its your fault for seeking to share something you haven't attained yet. this journey to the truth, the letting go of all preconvieved notion, becoming again like a child and looking at the world for the first time but this go with a fully developed mind, this is the rebirth. it is jarring, and often conflicts with your life in many ways. the selfishness with which you pursue it will govern both the success with which you do it, as well as the time it will take you. you will lose friends, jobs, family, lives, but you have to pursue this peace if it means the end of you. it is your purpose, to conquer the dragon, to defeat the serpent of your uncontained will. you must let truth guide you in it. I cant give you whats there, I can only tell you how to get there. whether you go, and whether you make it is entirely up to you. but the lack of a need for words level of awe is not something easily conveyed by the very stumbling stones that keep you from it.

It was a thread that described how you can change your life by changing the self narrative you have in your head. Everyone has a story deep within them that guides their thoughts and actions. It's how people choose to be depressed in a way since being depressed is consistent with the story they have for themselves.

I was on a Hunger Games high and wanted something similar.

I have no fucking idea what conversation you're on about. Plus things like stockholm syndrome are mental abuse where the victim seems happy. Just cos your wife smiles about you doesn't mean your not mentally abusing her

Nobody's going to bother reading this many books.

May as well turn your ego into a dick and stroke it off till you jizz

Pick 10 books, preferably just 5 books.

Excise the fat. Keep it simple and concise. Even a flowchart's better than this messy amalgamation of literature.

Just because he's abusing her doesn't make him wrong. Female sexuality is pretty much Stockholm Syndrome - they want the guy that they subconsciously fear is a rapist.
>>
>>128796146

Ive read lots of biographies by soldiers over the years
They are not highly sophisticated, but entertaining and you can somewhat learn how modern day or historic combat was/is for the boots on the ground

Great variety between more complicated books

Bravo two zero
American sniper
Lone survivor
Storm of Steel
Warrior soul
The filthy thirteen
etc

Well I'm glad that's settled.

Anyway you're not communicating very well. It's perfectly clear to you what you are thinking, but it doesn't come out clearly at all into words. You talk about the conversation and the argument, but it's not clear to us what the hell you're talking about.

>why you think in a weird poetic style, when most people think conversationally
Schizoaffective usually. Probably quite mild though, imagine a vegetarian or a guy that's into UFO theories. They are all in this category or a related one, and there's a lot of them.
