I would question their knowledge being greater than our own from an objective standpoint. Fact of the matter is there's more technology lost to time that has only now been rediscovered than most people realize.

Syrians were making steel with carbon nanotube structures in it using means we still can not replicate just a few centuries ago. There's still a great degree of argument over how the pyramids were built thousands of years ago. I could go on.
