you dont have to pay for a tv licence, only if you want to watch live screenings (so basically the major networks for americans). I haven't had one for 12 years since i moved out of my parents. 5 years or so i watched TV (they dont really check) 5 years or so i've only watched catchup/ netflix/ amazon etc.

The TV licence funding is used to pay for the BBC which used to be fucking awesome and totally worth it and is still probably the most famous tv broadcasting company in the world.

Also it's literally like £10 a month or something, about the same as your nowTV sub they you'll get to watch GoT or roughly 20% the price of an average sky package.

Let me tell you something worse. In Sweden you have to pay the TV-license even if you don't have a TV. If you have any device from which you can watch the state-TV (smart-phone, Ipad, computer) you have to pay the TV-license. I obviously don't tho because fuck them I just tell them that I don't have a TV or internet and close the door on them, but they do come knocking about once a year.
