I would consider myself an introvert because I have no real friends at all and spend most of my free time in my workshop. When I was a teenager that made me really depressed because I thought there was something wrong with me.
Now I am happy with what I do. Being alone gives me time to think about thinks that I am interestet in and to reflect on myself.
I love to have conversations but only meaningfull ones that that intrest me. This sometimes makes me feel like a dick because when I am around people who don´t share intrest with me I am completly silent and try not to look bored.
When it comes to going out my first expiriences were pretty akward and I thought I could never dance infront of other people. Later I realised that I just need the right kind of music to let myself go.
This again makes me feel like an asshole because I am so selctive about what I like and I have a hard time just playing along to please other peoples interests.

It's weird. I dominated over my classmates until that time. I was the toughest person in the year and they acknowledged it. I had some challengers from other groups, but it never came to anything. By the time I was in the final year of primary school, 10 years old or so, there were a few friends much bigger than me, who could probably have pummelled me, yet they still submitted to my dominance. And these were kids from council estates, not soft rich kids.

Extroverts have real conversations and discussions all the time, even more so than introverts do, but they also do have a lot more superficial conversations which is more akin to social grooming than it is to a genuine exchange of information.

I think this is an important point.

I think back on England's recent history, more so in the time before the 20th century:
How many upper class men, or aspiring upper class men, have lived who hated the upper class small talk and the etiquette but engaged in it anyway because they recognised it as a form of belonging to that privileged class to which they liked belonging in.

I remember a story of an English army high-up wondering in the desert with a few of his men, and he crossed, out of the blue, a similar cohort of men, lead by an equally respectable man from England, heading in a different direction, and he thought to himself "crap, I'm going to have to say Hello and do some small talk"

Say what you want about the proles, but at least it's more real. No if only we could find a balance between coarse stupidity and the middle class way and we'd be onto something.
