As a Muslim I can find myself agreeing with most of what he says.

I am not sure if Islam is capable of the type of reform that is required to make it compatible with western philosophy. If it is, it is a long way from it. A true reformation would probably require a violent revolution because those in power who never relinquish it without a fight. That is kind of the point of his story and I thought it was applicable on many levels.
