Yes, some colleges are less liberal then others and some people won't attack you for being a conservative, but universities in general and the people who go to them are far more liberal than conservative.

Universities are becoming more of a problem because they cost more money than people can afford, effectively leaving them in debt for most of their lives, and, as a country, we need more blue collar workers to fill blue collar jobs. Kids have been raised to believe that college is everything and if they don't get a white collar job, they will never make it in the real world. I know because that's what I was taught in high school. The problem with what I was taught is that it's a load of bullshit.

I'm 50% German, my dad's side. Dad was USArmy officer stationed in Germany WW2. Like most vets, spoke little about it. I traveled a lot on business in Germany, I felt a very strong pull, an affinity for the Germans I met (this in the 90's). Strong analytical, process oriented, engineering, mindset, dry understated sense of humor, all good. Blown away by hearing German orchestras perform Beethoven, Brahms, Wagner, etc. Following closely the last 5 years have been so sad.
