I took an IQ test (administered by a psychologist) when I was 17 and scored 127. Everyone says I'm smart (some people say I'm the smartest person they know, doubt it though) and I've certainly done more with myself than most of my friends (Managed to get a First in Genetics at a Russel Group university [top-tier in the UK])
Most of my friends watch TV/Ball sports and that's all they talk about which frustrates me as I really don't enjoy those sorts of things but we still get on ok.

IQ definitely impacts real world performance and certainly is a real thing.

I have talked theoretical physics with friends who finished their Bsc in physics and they had not once just stared at me in awe declaring that they had never thought of it in that way and that they think I might be genius. But the matter of fact is that I'm horrid at simple math, but I'm great at complex math, go fucking figure, it's like our brains are unique and each is excllent at one task (for me is complex problem solving) but for you it might be verbal logic so you will make a great lawyer.

Basically, don't think the IQ test is 100% accurate, since it misses on important details about your mental ability. And don't think someone is smarter than you just because he's better than you at 1 topic.

I have a 145 (a legit 145, took the test by a doctor) and I get bored talking to people.

I pretty much have fun by figuring out exactly what they will say and do next. Parties are an exercise of setting puppets to interact with each other to predictable outcomes.

Tested between 133-169 (133 and 169 on Stanford-Binet 4, 145+ on some other test that I don't know the name of). I find myself skipping a lot of obvious steps in my explanations with the assumption that everyone can follow. When I try to break concepts down into the simplest terms possible, normies treat me like I'm a retard. I have started adding pomp words when talking to normies and I find that helps. Whenever two contentious viewpoints arise, I've noticed people have a very hard time isolating what makes them different and the merits of each. Their arguments dance around the issue rather than driving to a central truth. It can be frustrating especially with regard to politics, which is probably why I seldom discuss it.

IQ definitely is useful and valuable though, it usually will tell you what you need to know, but it can't explain everything.

What is the bottom-line reason people get upset about IQ tests?
Sure a person can practice logic puzzles all day and get a better IQ score, or be hung over and get a worse score, but that isn't going to make an 80 IQ retard come even close to the cleverness of a 140 IQ clever person. Just because there is a spectrum of heights doesn't mean there aren't very short or very tall people either.
Main reason I suspect IQ tests are attacked so much is because it is a quantifiable way to say someone or some group is inferior to another.
Suppose that every argument against IQ tests were acknowledged and fixed magically so one could measure 1000 unwavering constants that accurately identify someone's intelligence. People would still oppose it because it would reveal uncomfortable truths and still show that someone is inferior in some way.

I took one that I don't remember the name of in 1st grade and got a 141, and then took the slosson? in 3rd grade which gave me a 150+? or something like that and my parents let them get to my head and put me in advanced classes and everything while not bothering to police my homework which led me to vastly underperforming throughout school while skating by since I'd get 90+ on every test even though not doing my homework and even failing to complete labs would leave me near failing all the time.
I'm successful now because I lazily joined the military and used that to fund a college degree in a medical field that requires licensure and skated through that as well, probably graduating at the bottom of my class, but my potential was way higher.
Lesson is, hard work will get you farther than being smart, IQ can let you skate through life comfortably, but its only as good as the effort put into polishing it

Communication issues often arise in those who show symptoms of Aspergers Syndrome and other forms of autism. I would know.

You can be truly smart, lake autistic qualities, and be a fantastic communicator. You can also be truly smart, have autistic qualities, and be a horrid communicator.

These things certainly are measurable, and they certainly are meaningful.

Just because one has difficulty expressing themselves in whatever ways, doesn't at all diminish their intelligence.

The real issue that we're all sort of missing is that despite IQ tests being decent indicators of intellect, what matters above all else is the relative nature of given knowledge. Just because a physicist is 145 IQ and a programmer is 140 IQ , doesn't exactly mean the physicist is particularly better it their job. For all we know, the programmer significantly out performs the physicist.

It's easy to misshape things when we leave out important details.

My IQ tested at least 130 on the Stanford-Binet at age 13. I'm 18 now and have had no intellectual stimulation over the past year and a half due to my status as a mentally ill NEET.

My IQ has surely dropped, right? I'm afraid to even consider taking it again.

My IQ was tested in school, I was joining Gifted and Talented program, prolly in 5th grade. I got 135, since then I've done online tests and get 145 every time basically. The more I succeed in life, the more I feel ripped off from my shit upbringing and my deadbeat family I'm burdened with caring for. Using my smarts just makes me relate with my family less, adds to depression of how stupid most people are, and that life is generally miserable and imperfect the more you figure things out.

I did the mensa iq test and got 177.. not sure if their test is legit. i do think much differently and rationalize better than others.. i also pick up on patterns easy which has allowed me to understand a few languages i cant speak.
