Let me guess. Another hacking tool that calls into question everything we thought we knew about computer security?
>>

Seems to be a local network trojan that starts at a source host and can spread up to 800mb size files undetected to every other machine on the network. Another Windows exploit
Wonder how this was used over the past year?

Spyware that targets computers running enterprise suites. Spreads by attaching to the MS office suite's shared core code.
Colleges and companies that have shared drives and a unified networks would be optimal for something like this. Presumably wikileaks has the source file.

The tool installs a filter driver for the SMB Protocol. SMB is a protocol to read Files from a (local?) network. The Pandemic tool filter sends a different file than the requested file to the receiver.

* If a user executes a .exe file via smb then the filter can devliever a different executable which may compromise the user further.
* The tool may deliver illegal content to a user. This could be used to get incriminating 'evidence' on a users computer.

SECRET//NOFORN
(S) Pandemic 1.0
1 (U) Tool Summary
(S//NF) Pandemic is a tool which is run as kernel shellcode to install a file system filter
driver. The filter will 'replace' a target file with the given payload file when a remote
user accesses the file via SMB (read-only, not write). Pandemic will not 'replace' the
target file when the target file is opened on the machine Pandemic is running on. The
goal of Pandemic is to be installed on a machine where remote users use SMB to
download/execute PE files.
(S//NF) Pandemic does NOT//NOT make any physical changes to the targeted file on
disk. The targeted file on the system Pandemic is installed on remains unchanged. Users
that are targeted by Pandemic, and use SMB to download the targeted file, will receive
the 'replacement' file

3.5 (U) Installation and Operation
(S//NF) Pandemic will install via Shellterm's shellcode installer. Included with Pandemic
is a sample python script that enables the shellcode installer functionality within
Shellterm. This script is not//not required to use Pandemic, but *some* script is required
to use Shellterm's shellcode loader functionality.
(S//NF) To use the sample python script, first drop it into Shellterm's script folder. This
folder is determined in Shellterm's configuration file. Once installed, attach to an active
session on the target, and make sure the .bin file generated earlier is on the Shellterm
machine. Run the following command to install Pandemic on target:
> kshellcode '<path to .bin file>/pandemic_AMD64.bin

My opinion regarding them does not matter here. I left it out because in my experience it hinders the discussion about the implications because often it leads the discussion into the boogy man trap. Thats why it matters that third parties could easily gain access to these tools. After discussions of the implications they can be looped back to the creators.

This would only work for a Lan, where we don't have basic checks like hash values to make sure that programs and documents haven't been changed in transit. Also, why would you need to re-write programs on the fly? Why aren't you intercepting traffic and just sending your version that way. re-writing something while in transit sounds like a good way to corrupt the file. Or is this another case of people not understanding how computers work again?

No computer is 100% impenetrable. No network is 100% secure.

It's all about covering holes with the best plaster you can muster and hope the hacker doesn't come back with C4.

The "our software is 100% secure" is an ad marketed at you to believe you have nothing to worry about. The only reason why you don't get malware is because you didn't visit a site that had any waiting for your specific type of machine to come around. If someone wanted to attack you, they could.

I understand that. It's just a simple file server redirect, like I thought, using SMB. Essentially, closed networks that are sharing files, will instead receive a file from outside their network. Pretty sneaky, as I said, because LANs don't do any verification that the file they are receiving from another computer hasn't been altered. What I want to know though, is that they don't explain how they are getting Pandemic onto a computer in the first place. This kind of thing also wouldn't effect most users, feels targeted more at businesses as a means of control. I would assume that Microsoft would have this imbedded on their latest Windows server versions, so all the CIA needs to do is flip the switch and suddenly someone is downloading from their file server when they reach for the latest version of photoshop. That CEO will think twice about criticizing the CIA when they bust down his door looking for his work laptop and find kiddy porn on it.

My impression is that they combine all tools seen in wikileaks. Each tool has a very specific task and capabilities.

They may use one tool to gain access to a server from the internet. They use it to install pandemic + payload executable on that server. From there pandemic infects all clients inside the network with the payload.
The payload is likely another tool and may extend this attack chain.

Point taken.

What aids the deepstate is that it is a virtual entity. Deepstate is the same as the pepe meme. It is a chameleon changing it's colors as needed.
Any entity participating in the deepstate if taken out, will not take out the deepstate. Because the deepstate is not any of it's parts themselves.
You are right, to warn of them.

The internet is under attack. If the internet is lost, the citizens are defeated.

They can distract us and slide us, but they won't do anything themselves, they have goals and they let them be displayed by someone else in the form of manipulation, they will always hide their own hand, they live in fear, they live in the edge caused by the power rush.

Meanwhile we can see their actions being exposed in real time, we will always find their dirty laundry, that's why they developed all this defensive tools.

I disagree with any wikileaks release that does not show abuses of American civil rights. if wikileaks does not show that the stuff they release is being used against American citizens then wikileaks is actually hurting our national security. I know some releases have shown those abuses, but if not then wikileaks is hurting the united states. Leaking civil rights abuses or doxxing politicians files is fine but revealing programs we use overseas but not against americans is absolutley wrong.

I am pointing your statement out because words have weight and they are our weapons. Many will find inspiration in them.
If you have doubt of wikileaks - and there is reason to be doubtful - you should figure out how to dissolve the doubt or find proof. But spreading more doubt does neither.
Nothing personal!

CIA, NSA, et al develop tools, surveillance, etc.

These get sold or leased or licensed or just outright given/stolen to 3rd party contractors with ZERO oversight.

Those contractors are the hitmen/mafia of the intel world. They do all the illegal stuff and it's kept under the table so regular employees and even other management, never know about it. This is how and why former CIA directors, etc. get such kushy jobs after 'retirement'.

There is a shadow intel agency in the US that is running around with legit intel agency assets and equipment and has moles and spies embedded in all levels of the US government. This is the "intel community" people refer to. These are the people who enable pedophilia, drug trade, organ trade, and every other illegal thing you can think of under the sun. These are the people collecting leverage on politicians, assassinating leakers, lawyers, judges, investigators and prosecutors.

They are the single greatest threat to the american people to have ever existed.

SMB (Small Message Block) is basically CIFS. It's microsoft's file sharing protocol. When you share files between two windows computers on a network you are using SMB.
The NSA exploit that the WannaCry ransomware used took advantage of a vulnerability in an old version of SMB.
>>
>>128175271
Also, Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPOs, simplistically you can think of it like rules and regulations that set certain parameters and run scripts) are disseminated to member computers and servers via SMB.
Almost all major companies use AD.

You have nothing to act righteous about, you argue like a kike. Being skeptical is great, but Wikileaks has been much for ehical posturing so your argument is pointless really. They publish what they are sent. If they didn't exist it would be released somewhere else.
>>
>>128152190

>>
>>128181410
What is also scary is that many people are unable to relate to these relevations. There is a widespread lack of metacognitive abilities. These abilities need to be developed more. This would increase security in several ways.
>>
>>128183127

Yeah, in fact people think these ideas are crazy. I always found it funny when those memos were released supposedly showing that Trump was (supposedly) compromised in all sorts of bizarre sexual situations by the Russians, everyone buys it. Yet when someone talks about rogue elements of the American intelligence apparatus and what tactics they use, nobody believes it!

>>
>>128186893

Agreed. It is only going to get worse. All opposing sides focus on attacking the opposition, or licking their collective wounds. We live in a supremely pathological age.
>>
So is it just me, or does it look like after disappearing last October before "phase 3" that would have demolished the DNC and Clinton, Assange has only reappeares to slowly leak info that will be used to cast doubt on information that has been taken from Clinton and the DNC?
I bet this will eventually lead to the "exposing" of software/malware that can cast a doubt on hard evidence against Clinton.
The fucker may not be dead, but I swear he's compromised.
>>
>>128188196
Yeah. If oneself chooses to behave differently, others may do as well. Arguing and opposing is a stage, people can learn to transcend it.
>>
>>128147774
jesus
>>
>>128189499
I found it curious in the hannity video, that Assange mentioned his Family and Children and was crying tears. Specifically mentioning them brings them in the spotlight and to the atttention of his enemies. This is not in their or his interest. But if they are already treatened, then bringing them into focus does not endanger them more, but is a hint.

I doubt however that wikileaks doings are to discredit evidence against clinton. Everything feels too coordinated to harm clinton & associates.
>>
>>128191396
>I doubt however that wikileaks doings are to discredit evidence against clinton. Everything feels too coordinated to harm clinton & associates.

From the docs "The goal of Pandemic is to be installed on a machine where remote users se SMB to download/execute PE files."

PE = portable executable

What kind of applications is a broad question. Could be standalone apps for a specific task.

The file replacement may be done _before_ the hash is computed. Thus the hash of the replacement file is computed. No network transmission error will be detected then.
