Just because most networks might use DHCP for dynamic (or static) leasing of IP's **DOES NOT** mean I can't physically plug into the network, compute the subnet mask from the gateway and assign myself any fucking IP I want.

Or I can sniff the traffic coming across the switch, pick an IP, poison the ARP table (as mentioned before), clone the MAC assigned to that IP and hijack any IPV4 connection I want.

Or you could literally tap an ethernet cable and spoof any number of those IP's by performing a man in the middle attack.
