Just thought of the perfect analogy and why the people who say that Nihilism proscribes creating your own meaning are fools.

Imagine you are sitting at a desk, going through all the philosophical belief systems. For each one you are handed a blank sheet of paper with instructions to draw a shape.

"For Stoicism, draw a line. For Utilitarianism, draw a circle." And so on for each.

For Nihilism you are handed a blank sheet of paper and no instructions at all.

One could argue that the only thing you could do with that paper that is NOT Nihilist would be to draw nothing. To draw nothing would suggest that you are still assigning meaning to the instructions, and that since there are none you should not draw anything.
