climate has always changed. on the long term this is solar related (orbital eccentricity and other things), but on the human scale it's more about changes to the circulatory system state of the atmosphere, especially regarding the tropical/extratropical temperature gradient.

Hot tropics, cold poles cools the planet, cool tropics warm pole warms it b/c stefan boltzmann law. The recent warming is mostly b/c of a reduction in this gradient, and only somwhat (maybe 20-40%) a result of CO2. We are also still coming out of the little ice age, which plays a role in things like sea level rise and glacial ice melt.
