One- the USA doesn't rule the world. It just likes to think it does.

Two- it has repeatedly lost conflicts. They lost Vietnam, Cambodia and North Korea to communism, failed against the Taliban and have made little improvement in Iraq.

Three- they may have the best TECHNOLOGY, but probably the worst military strategy. This is why they keep losing wars in third world countries.

Four- Lack of money, due to corruption in their politics. If China and Russia were freer countries then they would be richer.

Also Russia arguably won the Space Race (first man in space, first space station, etc.) so their contribution to technology should be recognised.

What make sense is different for countries around the world. Russia doesn't really have much need for Carriers. They mainly operate in areas around their border where ground based aircraft are all that is necessary.

The US funds the most research. Historically then leaders actually give a fuck about science advancement usually happens, for example King Charles the second's support of the sciences lead up to England surpassing the world technologically.

Russia is held back by the post communist Kleptocracy, after the fall of communism Russian inventions became less impressive.

China inversely is held back by there version of communism which suppresses creativity too much. China after the long match became a source of cheap labor and then learned to reverse engineer western tech. China is just one cultural shift away from becoming a dominate force. Unlike the west they don't have things like white quilt and forced gender equality to hold them back.

Ex-soldier here, the reason we couldn't "defeat" ISIS was because first: a nebulous "War on Terror" is retarded, just like the "War on Drugs", and secondly, we have to follow the Geneva Conventions, which, if you don't know, effectively tie the hands of any unit until they themselves come under fire. Even then, if they're shooting at you from a school, hospital, mosque, or some other "protected" site, you can only run away. (Protip: they almost ALWAYS choose such sites.)

Also, any war America "lost" wasn't lost by the soldiers, it was lost by the American people. As most know, Americans are by and large fat, ignorant, proud, loud, and almost illiterate. They're also easily fatigued, not just physically, but mentally as well. All an enemy has to do to "defeat" America in a war is outlast the political will of the people. Then I pack my bags and leave, to be shipped off to some other desert or jungle hole that nobody cares about.

TL;DR: We have an awesome military, but I'm often ashamed to call the listless cattle that inhabit my nation my countrymen.
