2. More CO2 causes flooding - bad for plants
3. More CO2 causes higher temperature - bad for plants

5. More CO2 makes crop plants less nutritious to humans - bad for us

Here are the facts about Global Warming (simplified and condensed)

- CO2 is a greenhouse gas due to its ability to absorb radiation in the long-wave IR spectrum that would otherwise be reflected off of the Earth's surface into outer space

- Temperatures are increasing in the entire lower atmosphere, above the continents, above the oceans, in the shallow ocean and the deep oceans

- CO2 concentrations are increasing in the atmosphere and there is an increased amount of carbon stored in the world ocean

- the CO2 increase is mostly anthropogenic. We know this because we can look at how the isotopic signature is developing over time in the atmosphere and the ocean

- Temperature has for the last 4 decades followed CO2 concentrations (upward) instead of total solar irradiance, which experienced a standstill or even a slight decline over that time

>there is currently no other climate forcing than the anthropogenic carbon emissions that can explain the temperature evolution of the last 4 decades

Can you guys tell me which of these points you dispute?

CO2 is not a greenhouse gas. In fact, CO2 is not a gas. In fact, Carbon is a liquid released into the atmosphere as a form of water vapour. It does not cause heating. CO2 actually cools the plant because it is water and when the suns hear hits us, it stops the heat (CO2 reduces the suns temperature from 3000 degrees to 200 degrees at night)

The issue with climate change is you're trying to explain it to people who reject science as is. They need to SEE it or they won't believe it. And because explaining to them that the climate change adjusts a protein folding rate which kills a plant which kills an animal that would eat the plant which kills an environment etc etc is too abstract for them to grasp.

>CO2 is a greenhouse gas

it is, but so is water vapor. co2 makes up a miniscule amount of a miniscule amount of the ozone layer. literally pissing in an ocean

>the globe is getting warmer

its not significantly hotter now than it was 100, 1000 or 1 million years ago. because a lot of climate 'science' is tainted by bias like putting thermometers where they know the temperature is hotter than the area around it, and corporations funding these studies with an outcome in mind.

since heating and cooling cycles are normal throughout earth's timeline, wouldn't it just be simpler to presume that its happening naturally, rather than funneling 100 billion dollars a year into the UN?

>co2 makes up a miniscule amount of a miniscule amount of the ozone layer

if you take the mathematical meaning of that term, then yes it is. It's significant because the probability that this temperature trend could be the result of internal variability is below 5%

>wouldn't it just be simpler to presume that its happening naturally?
And what natural cycle do you propose as an explanation? The reason climatologists don't think the temperature rise is "natural" is because the non-anthropogenic forcings are way to small to explain the temperature. It's only after taking direct anthropogenic emissions of GHGs into account that you can make sense of the rise in temperature

Europe. A multicultural Europe will be getting all of the money, because Europe supports the big bad CLIMATE BOOGIEMAN.

Isn't current co2 levels pretty normal compared to where theve been in just the past couple million years? Co2 levels have always fluctuated on a level thousands of times greater than the current levels we see today. Obviously I cannot deny the co2 spike we've seen in the past couple centuries. But when the graphs are pulled back by tens of, if not hundreds of thousands of years, which is required to see true change and fluctuation on a geologic timescale. The current amount of co2 in the atmosphere is nowhere near the levels they have been in the past. And when the levels were extremely high, I wasn't like the Earth was a desert, most of the planet had fauna similar to what exists today. Just with more monsters hiding in them.

So yes, climate change is real, but with that said, who gives a fuck? Human activity has caused nonexistent levels of change. The real thing that should be looked at is the grand scam. Nearly 90% of energy production emits co2 as a byproduct, imagine your that lucky fuck that gets to tax that. That's really all it is. Another way for fucks in power to tax the fuck out of people for "reasons". And it's hard to combat them too, because they have SCIENCE. Just like how priests and popes had god, politicians and leaders and greedy fucks have "science" and "scientists".

The game hasn't changed, just the pieces we play the game with...

>>
>>128023266
Because conservatives don't want to hamstring our economic growth to chase snipes. This climate agreement has been political bullshit from the start. Look at the pollution coming from China, India, Mexico, and the rest of the world. What the fuck are we going to do? Do you think we can reverse it with this deal? Nobody does. It's a stupid waste of money and a waste of time.
Until alternative energy sources are more profitable we will use coal and oil.
We should focus on going nuclear if we actually care about the environment, not signing stupid deals.
>>
>>128021675
But the Paris agreement doesn't do anything for the rise in temperature which is seen as the main threat, even using UN's own model. It has very little to do with the actual climate, and more to do with shifting wealth from the richer countries to the poorer, by taxing westerners and putting it in the pockets of corporations which chooses to go abroad.

2 trillion dollar a year, for no noticable change in climate, makes you wonder where those figures end up eh.

Carbon dioxide only contributes to the greenhouse effect and ocean acidification...

Water vapor among other gases may also contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Carbon dioxide reacts with water to form carbonic acid and there is always the factor of equilibrium with this. This is my main concern with carbon dioxide emissions and why nations should try to limit them...

Carbon dioxide won't do much else

Apart from the 'debate' here on climate change, Trump makes an important point. The agreement in practice weakens the west in political power, while strengthening the Eastern countries. This is a problem. There are a lot of naive people, who will think these eastern countries will put the climate first, when the shift of power has occurred. (Hint: they will not). Whether it was the intention or not (I believe so), this treaty is not one where climate is central, but where international power and geopolitics are. Any debate on global warming will divert from this point, while it should be the most dominant part of the discussion.

This is why I can't take this shit seriously. The amount of time it will take to get the earth to this green standard and the amount of infrastructure that will have to be made and remade to compensate will obviously require our best tech that we can use now which much of it will make some sort of emission. And who knows how many decades of this it will take. Unless we revert back to horse and carriage and hauling materials by mule. And mining completely by hand. Its asinine.
