The alt-left is a nameless movement that has risen primarily in the 2010s in response to SJW subculture and the partisan system that dominates the United States. There is no unified ideology, much like the "alt right" - a diverse array of ideologies fall into this category. We are united in our devotion to the betterment of humanity and to the end of destructive identity politics used by partisans on both the left and the right. It is the duty of all human beings to improve themselves and the people around them, and with a virtuous population, good policy will naturally come into place.

Many people in the alt-right compensate for their lack of personality by holding their identities (such as race) up high. Individuals should not be able to claim ownership of the accomplishments of a group identity, nor should they be shamed for the shortcomings of a group identity.

This is purposefully misleading. Leftist advocate mass immigration on account of virtue signalling and the inability to comprehend the mass dichotomy in quality of culture and moral empathy between the West and the rest.
Meanwhile, white nationalists are calling for controlled, legal immigration into the country. The type that doesn't risk irreparably changing the demographic structure of their nation.

How you can generalise a movement which, by your own admission, has no cohesive ideology is beyond me.
The minor representation to whom you are likely referring to, people like Richard Spencer and Jared Taylor, subscribe to racial realism and advocate for equal respect amongst races. Taylor has said himself that he doesn't believe any race to be inherently superior to the other, just that there are distinct differences between them.
