That seems great, but on paper, there is many restrictions and laws that prohibit me from a good service and if I want one I either have to break the law (and bribe doctors most of the time) or I have to go to private hospital that cost almost as the bribe I am giving. Meanwhile the doctors at the Private hospital are the same doctors working in the public one... so either the service is as good as in the public or they intentionally don't want to help you, so you can go to their own hospital and spend money.

Most people overpaying is one of the basic principles insurances are built upon, but they keep shifting the cost/benefit ratio too much. We have tons of people who go to the doc for even the tiniest shit, simply because it's free and they are bored. It wastes insane amounts of money.

And on top of that you have all the people who don't give a shit about fixing their lifestyle because the pills that take care of that for them are "free" (as in, paid for by someone else).

Go to an endocrinologist. It is nothing but fat people munching pills to get their hormonal levels back into a normal range because they can't be arsed to just not consume unhealthy amount of foods. I know diabetic people who could control their sugar levels by just paying attention to their diet a bit, but don't give a shit because the medication can also do that and it costs them nothing.

Okay this cant be serious. I work in healthcare, I have for the past 5 years. I work in one of the major hospitals in the province of British Columbia, I can tell you for certain it is far from perfect.

Old people are sent to death wards because healthcare is rationed, if you are old and sick you are left to die, even when treatments are available you are put on 1+ year waiting lists which by that time you will be far dead.

Cancers are not caught fast enough here, well the truth is most cancers are never caught fast enough, but the system is so overburdened a lot of scans aren't even thoroughly looked at. It's not uncommon for somebody to come in to diagnostic imaging, get the clear, then come back and find out we were wrong because we never thouroughly went through it but it's too late now and they are going to die.

Or the fact to get even the most basic of surgeries you are stuck waiting for months on end, or the youth dying in hospital beds of curable diseases but because they cant recieve treatment fast enough they die.

Rationed healthcare is a real thing here. The system is also heavily overburdened, most hospitals are operating at 120-160%. Last year we had to line beds up all throughout the hospital ER because we didn't have enough main beds for people. Don't even get me started on psych, psych is so overburdened that most people who come to the hospital and complain about suicide are just sent back off to the streets. If you are a psych patient have fun waiting in the ER in the middle of a hallway for weeks on end or in a psych room in the ER waiting for a transfer to the psych units, which are so overburdened that the psych nurses themselves cant even keep up.

The Canadian healthcare system is fucked, you cant even get bloodwork here done without a request from a doctor, let alone any sort of scan.

To add to this most people do not have family doctors here because of shortages, a lot of the doctors we do have are from third world countries too. Not all of them are bad, but a lot of them are not top tier doctors and it's tough to build a relationship with them.

If you do not have a family doctor you can be put on a list where waiting periods exceed 5 years. You are stuck relying on walk in clinics where you have to line up hours before opening just to get in late in the day if you are lucky, and your appointments have to be brief because of the wait list for other patients. If you get a perscription and have basic coverage (nothing from your employer) medication can be very expensive - also in some provinces (BC for example) you have to pay MSRP forced by the government up to 60$ a month just to afford this said healthcare.

In the end it basically comes down to rationed healthcare, overburdened and undertrained doctors, people dying of curable diseases, the old left to rot in glorified death wards with nurses that try to get them in and out to the morgue as fast as possible, a poorly ran psych system and a shit ton of other problems.

Yes the Canadian healthcare system can work for you in some cases, and there are some benefits, but it is so far from perfect. At least in the U.S if you can afford healthcare you are given good healthcare. Here in Canada it's basically a third world system in a first world country.
