I've read the entire thread and following has still not been addressed:

If the minimum wage was increased to $15/hr, what incentive is there for companies to hire workers with no experience? People who were previously on welfare or unemployment, or teenagers new to the workforce, for example. This is already happening today, where companies have asinine requirements for low-level work.

Workers determine the value of their labor based on the market, so when the minimum is so high, it devalues everything above it. You could say that those businesses will just have to raise their wages to compete, but now where does that cost come from? It has to be compensated somewhere.
