Lets raise minimum wage to 15$ because we feel that low income workers will benefit from this.
>>
Or lets bring back the role of traditional housewives.
>>
I might lose my job from this
>>
>>127940703

I voted against it. People don't think about long-term economic consequences, they just see the immediate benefit of raising wages. They also don't seem to get that this disrupts the value of the labor pool.

>Engineer with years of training and exp, make $30/hr
>Ex-con, stock shelves for $25/hr.

I'm wondering when people will just say fuck it.

>>
>make tuition free for combined income of 60k or less
>Raise minimum wage to negate this

Orville is a genius!
>>
>>127941168
Inflation erodes wages though. So keeping it static for even 1 year means minimum wage is actually lowering because of the lost purchasing power.

minimum wage being so low is why immigrants are needed to do shit tier jobs. Because people on gibs me dats don't have ANY incentive to work full time.

Take any single parent for example. They can work 1-2 days a week and earn the same as a full time worker at 40hr week.

So you end up with a nation of meets and immigrants. Not raising the minimum wage is a direct part of this...I don't give a fuck if a labourers on 40 dollars per hour vs an accountant on 35 an hour....that's just market demand!
>>
>>127940703
Let's not. Fuck off. "Socialism" isn't sustainable without pure nationalism to stop illegal immigration and cheap labor competition flooding the country.

>>
>>127943203
Make it a $1 billion each. Can't get very far on a million nowadays.
>>
>>127942973
Thats wrong tho nigger, if inflation effectively lowers the minimum wage then employers will have to raise it on their own to make iy feasible for people to earn a living.

Where I live has a strange economy, lots of people make good money but the cost pf living raised with everyone's wages.

The "minimum wage" here is effectively 4 to 5 dollars higher than an equivalent position elsewhere.
>>
>>127942973

True, but not at the rate where we need yearly wage increases of large amounts. Inflation is kind of an average anyway - a loaf of bread in 5/16 may be worth less in 5/17, due to a huge variety of other factors. Same goes for any other product.

Agree with you again - which is why I think welfare should in most cases be abolished. People need to work for their living, unless they genuinely can't (and not oh i can't because i'm too fat, or have a bullshit psych disorder, etc).

As for the last part yeah that's my point - why would someone put themselves through years of school/training, go in debt, all that, when they could be making basically the same as someone who doesn't need any of those qualification?
>>
>>127940703
>minimum wage retards get 150% wage increase
>I get 1%
Fuck this shit
>>
>>127940703
Literally all that will happen is some people will lose their jobs and rent will go up. You will still be poor.
>>
>>127941168
>They also don't seem to get that this disrupts the value of the labor pool.
This is exactly my issue with the minimum wage debacle, because people apparently think employers are just going to voluntarily raise wages across the board. Why on earth would an engineering company pay their 30k/year employees just because the burger flippers down the street are making 25k/year? The devaluing of careers like this will most certainly come back to bite everyone except stupid uneducated niggers in the ass.

Liberals don't give a fuck about pensioners lol. They want the young vote. Kathleen wynne may even get re-elected because of this shit.

We are fucked.

>>
>>127941168

We raised all prices 30% across the board, over night, because of min wage increases.

The consumer always bears the burden.

Some people complained but a well placed sign, a blurb on our website, and simple explanation over the phone, explained that to keep our small business running and to continue providing excellent service prices had to go up to match wage increases.

Our sales werent hurt much. Some complaned but most understood. I would NOT say that they appreciated it though.

Loser corp should've gone bankrupt in the first place. These aren't non-profits, they're here to make money. They can't compete, they die, and others will take their places.

Basic economics, more money to middle class workers, slight inflation.
Wage increase has been bubbling for decades now. Kept artificially low via work permit programs that imported virtual slaves to staff those fucking tim horton's.

Case in point, Costco high wages, low prices, very profitable.

The economy isn't being held back by a lack of investment capital.
In fact, the current glut of investment capital is what keeps interest rates so low, and also drove the mortgage crisis of 8 years ago.
People have tons of money to invest and not enough places to invest it.
The only way left to promote economic growth is to increase wages.
And bottom-end wages are only going to grow through government mandate.

...or maybe we could build a wall and blame China, India and Mexico for fucking shit up even though the rust belt has lost far more jobs to automation than outsourcing.

If $15 is good, $150 is better.

But, $1,500,000 would be best!

Can you imagine working one hour PER YEAR and being a millionaire? Fucking GENIUS.

If millionaires weren't so greedy we could all be millionaires and barely have to work at all. We gotta let the government can fix this. Once they get to decide how much I get paid per hour of work, then I too can be rich!
>>
>>127947938
Stop being a nigger, if the bare minimum is now $15, than your relative worth has increased. This is a much better comparison point than a COLA increase during salary negotiation time.

Nothing you can do except let the massive influx of wealth rain down upon the society you live in

Seriously, you Bill O'Reilly fucktards just neck yourself. You're all literally slaves to jews and you're crying because of the minimum wage being raised. Holy shit this is pathetic nigger tier bluepill complaining.
>>
>>127952823
Not literally yet, give it about 3 more years I'd say.
>>
>>127950906
Dude go fuck yourself. People are out there hacking it and actually working, this isn't some handout.
>>
I don't mind raising it a little (Arizona raising it from 8 to 10) but a cashier at some fast food restaurant shouldn't be making as much as a newly graduated nurse
>>
I'll see your $15 an hour and raise it to $100 an hour. Now who's the real kind hearted liberal in the room. Makes you look like a conservative now doesn't it. I hope you feel like shit now.
>>
>>127954194
>just $100 per hour
Pfff $1000 per hour at least m8, we can put an end to poverty forever everywhere this way
>>
>>127954156
All wages go up, stupid. Companies won't be able to post back office jobs for 15/hr and require a degree. They'll have to pay more than McDonald's. Most of you are fucking conservative talking head tier here and you're all acting like liberals are the ones who can't understand second/third order effects.
>>
>>127947167
Goddamn why are leafs so fucking stupid?
>Bitch, go tell your boss you can make as much at mcdonalds for 10% of the effort
Why do idiots think their bosses are an infinite pool of money? Sometimes, no matter what, there isn't room for a raise. You think your job wants to pay you more after everything's cost incresase? You think the answer is more wage increase?
>You think corps wouldn't have automated jobs if they could? Try handling a mcdonald customer line for 15 minutes with robots, see how those fatfucks start complaining
Did you know technology grows exponentially more advanced every year? In 20 years those jobs will be automated. Most likely 10. We will lose jobs to automation, and It wont be a small fraction of them.
>Prices in canada have already jumped 30% in some cases just due to the loonie diving. Just compare prices on amazon.com vs .ca.
So the solution is even higher prices???
>Loser corp should've gone bankrupt in the first place. These aren't non-profits, they're here to make money. They can't compete, they die, and others will take their places.
An economy where small buissness cant thrive and sustain people is not as good as one where they flounder and only massive corporations can eat the cost? Are you seriously that fucking stupid?

Basic Economics, Money has to come from somewhere.

Costco is a membership program. Theres a reason it works so well. It isnt because they pay well. The wages are a byproduct of the costco system, not the reverse. You are truly an idiot, either a shitskin or Justin Tredeau is here among us.

>All restaurant tabs have climbed in recent years as labor costs have risen due largely to state and local minimum wage increases. The cost of eating out—especially when cooking at home has gotten cheaper—is one major reason hamburger chains are seeing less foot traffic, NPD restaurant analyst Bonnie Riggs said.

$15 min wage shills BTFO, etc., etc,

>why do idiots think bosses are an infinite pool of money?
Why do idiots like you think the market has a finite number of business models?
>sometimes there isn't room for a raise
Yeah, it's called adapt or die, faggot. The market now requires a living wage. Good luck.
>>

Digits highlight your faggotness.

>muh boss doesnt have infinite money
If the corporation can't adapt, it'll die. And if i work as an employee, i'm offering my services for money, just like a company sells products and services. They want high quality work, then they gotta pay.

>muuuuh automaaaation
Once again, this is a constant and not dependent on wage increases, although there would be a slight incentive due to the potential profit shift

> prices are determined by the market
There are many factors affecting the price. But corporations never pass on all costs to consumers. There are always substitutes. To beat macdonald's example to death, if big macs get 30% more expensive, people start cooking at home. Or one company figures out how t make it work and make all the profit. Passing costs to the consumer is a cuckservative meme.

>muh small business
Yeah, if your small business is living on death's edge because of a $3 wage increase, it would've have died one way or another. Because you're running a shit franchise and you'd get bankrupted eventually anyway. Real innovators plan for growth, not stalemate. Swim or die, stop lobbying.
And i'd support a cut (or total elimination) to all corporation subsidies too. That hurts small businesses more than anything.

>costco is a membership program
Fuck off, it's a highly succesful company that adapted to modern times, unlike those old dinosaurs lobbying for favors.

Learn how business actually work instead of being some bitter mid management fat-ass.
>>
>>127954733
If you cant afford to enter the market because of wage cost it doesn't matter that the market has an inifinite number of buissness models. Most people cant sustain themselves without a job. They cant just start their own buissness willy nilly.

>adapt or die
>the government is actively making it impossible to adapt

Please explain to me where you learned economics and why you think large corporations essentially being the only companies that will eventually continue to run under your model okay?
>>
I've read the entire thread and following has still not been addressed:

If the minimum wage was increased to $15/hr, what incentive is there for companies to hire workers with no experience? People who were previously on welfare or unemployment, or teenagers new to the workforce, for example. This is already happening today, where companies have asinine requirements for low-level work.

Workers determine the value of their labor based on the market, so when the minimum is so high, it devalues everything above it. You could say that those businesses will just have to raise their wages to compete, but now where does that cost come from? It has to be compensated somewhere.

So what you end up with is a market where people with no to minimal experience can't get a job at all, people with intermediate experience have entry level positions, and people with lots of experience (of which there are the least) are forced to take everything else. In what way is this not skewed?
>>
>>127955930
> When most of them die youll be unemployed

>youll be unemployed again

>lol doesnt understand high costs prevent growth

>cost co has always been a membeship it is their model

I help manage a very succesful buissnes. You are most likely a wage cuck. You dont know a single thing about economics and planning for the future.

>small business need low wages
Nope. And if it's their main cost driver, they're in the wrong business or country.

>you run a business

Wages will go up for newly graduated nurses as well due to a phenomenon called "crowding". $15/hr is literally just a COLA adjustment to where min wage was back in the 1980s.

It is nowhere close to a living wage anywhere in the u.s. if you cannot afford housing, transport, food, medicine, and other essentials it is not a living wage. You either have never worked a minimum wage job or you don't live in the u.s.
