HAPPENING Brazil to become monarchy again

Some time ago Brazilians enough brazilians supported a proposal to have a referendum on wether to become an empire again, and thus this became the proposed legislation SUG 18/2017 and the Senate will have to discuss it.

Do you think Brazil will become an empire again, pol?

This is the proposal:
>"Brazilian presidentialism is corrupt and corrupting. Implementing the monarchy will remove the partisan bias from State decisions, guaranteeing it's isonomy, while at the same time the government's functions would remain with representatives elected by the people, with a smaller cost to the public treasury"
More Details
>"It would be the emperor's role to nominate and fire the fire-minister, to dissolve the Congress to call new elections, to be the Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, to appoint ministers to the Federal Supreme Court and to call plebiscites and referendums. The administrative and government's functions would belong to the Prime Minsiter and his Cabinet. The legislative and the Judiciary would keep their current roles"

Right now it's in the Human Rights and Participatory Legislation Committee, and the Committee's President has 2 days to appoint a rapporteur, who needs to write a report on whether the proposal should be approved or not. If it passes (it should cause there is nothing unconstitutional in this proposal, but CDH is mostly cancerous leftists), it then goes to the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ), and, if approved, will be voted in the Senate floor (they might make it go through some non-permanent committee too, like the one on political reform), and then on to the Chamber of Deputies.
>>
Btw here is the proposal, vote YES all of you who can do so

There isnt even a debate tho. Its not like the shitshow in France

More info:
Brazil was an Empire from 1822 to 1889 (constitutional after 1824 and parliamentary after 1847). It had two emperors Pedro I of Brazil (aka Pedro IV of Portugal) and Pedro II of Brazil.

The current proposal changes some stuff to how it was back then (nominating judges for ex), adds some powers (referendums and plebiscites) and changes some other stuff (more powers to the PM, less executive powers to the monarch and not going back to a unitary state, keeping federalism).

Unlike most normal countries, it had 4 powers: legislative, judiciary, executive and moderating, based on the ideas of Benjamin Constant.

The political opinions and institutions back then were largely inspired by the British Monarchy and the French July Monarchy

It was illegal for anyone to discuss it for more than 100 years, and now, for the first time in ages, they'll have to discuss it in the senate, and more and more people are talking about it and learning about it. Then the title: Brazil, the last crusade, which is probably a reference to the fact that the country was created by the Order of Christ, direct descendants of the Knights Templar in Portugal (and from other countries), and the discovery and colonization of the americas by Portugal (spain too but who cares about them in this context?) was seen, and is being rediscovered by historians, as a direct continuation of the crusader spirit of militant catholicism [the people there are all redpilled on Islam btw] that lasted from the crusades until after the reconquista.

>>
>>127935019
They tried to do it before. 86.6% said no. It won't happen. The british monarchy is useless and contributes nothing to the country.

And this was after another impeachment (we had just got away from a dictatorship and our first president ellect by the popular vote was impeached. The plebiscite happened during the whole process and still lost.

>therefore I shall make one of them king
No, portuguese education, that's not what it's being proposed at all.

>>127935816
This. A literal cuckold got together with republicans, who never ever had electoral success (not even 5% of the votes) and fucked up the country for good. Even federalism, the only good thing they did, was gonna be introduced in 1889 with a new bill letting provinces make legislation and increasing their powers.
But we don't learn shit about our history, especially the most important period in the XIXth century, just marxist revisionism (literally the name of this historiographic school) and muh poor politicians persecuted by le ebil military. 200 years of history and we don't learn shit.
To burguers, imagine if your schools brushed over the founding fathers, the war of independence, lied through it's teeth about the early republic and focused it's classes on the period from FDR to Obama, that's what we have here, no knowledge of history and perpetual institutional revolution.
>>
>>127935934

>The british monarchy is useless and contributes nothing to the country
It does, they lease fuck loads of land to the Government for well below market value, and allow the Govt to use it. And they're a diplomatic powerhouse and serve as advisers to our PMs

Anyway, what are the chances of this happening, and what powers, if any, would the monarch hold?
>>
>>127936451
We are fixing things. We will impeach every single president ever until we get a single one that isn't a corrupt fuck.
>>
>>127929981
They're right, the presidential system leads to conflicts of interest and other clusterfucks.
The answer is parliamentarism and a division of foreign policy from domestic policy. Do you not have a "home secretary" post in the Brazilian system?
>>
I've read this whole thread and I still don't get it. Why is an emperor going to make everything better? You have a corrupt society. That's why you have corrupt leaders. Changing their title won't change the fact that every Brazilian in a position of power will try to loot the country.

A land that belongs to a monarch isn't legitimate because it was taken by force instead of bought, thus violating the NAP. Correct thing would be remove monarchs and take their lands back for the state so your government spends zero pounds on its rent.
>>
>>127935931
First was monarchy, then positivism, then more oligarchic positivism, then quasi-fascist labor unionist bit state bs, then pure populism, then more nationalist and technocratic positivism, then just pure oligarchy + social democracy + populist "21st century" "democratic socialism", all three in 20 years of a "social-democratic consensus".

During the monarchy we had 60 years of stability, the most stable period we ever had, a single currency, a single constitution, no coups, and after around the 40s constitutional monarchy similar to Britain's back then (we had a larger % of people who could vote than they did) and with a more-or-less stable party system. Then with the republic we had at least 6 coups, 10 currency changes, 6 constitutions and constant fucking crisis, with several party systems that ended up with almost 30 parties in congress, over half of which represent absolutely nothing

Tourism, diplomatic relations, national symbol, cultural icon and centre piece. Aswell as others, like an objective force kind of within politics that people can turn towards too. Even if they were just there for show the tourism money alone makes them good. For a lot of countries I would say shouldnt have them like the US for example wouldnt make sense, not so sure about Brazil but an Empire being around would be cool af. If every country was a republic (the road we`re on) etc. then imagine how fucking bland that would be, completely forgetting our roots.

>>127938225
People vote for them, we'll have one election next year. This change would at least give us more flexibility to get rid of shitty governments like the brits have, and a way to work around politicians, with the king, to have referendums that increase our power against the government's. Imagine if you could just have the emperor call a referendum on term limits or a balanced budget if so requested by a high enough number of people, without needing to convince the politicians to do that which they'd never do, for ex, within the bounds of law. See the thread I posted on yuki.la for more examples. The king is a conservative catholic too, so the power he could abuse the most (appointing judges, usually based on a list made by lower-level judges and lawyers) would be riggint the Supreme Court to block lib bullshit, which is better than what we have today, with corrupt and progressive judges.

You can see it as a further division of power and a new check to balance shit out. In the XIXth century the king was even acclaimed, so parliaments around the country approved him b4 he turned into emperor (only happened once tho), today we could change this to acclamation by the people.

The guys who would become emperors are pretty serious, honest and respects freedom 2. They're familiar with the founding fathers, the classics, proper governance through history, etc, while our political class are retards or marxists. Imagine having a monarchist and catholic Thomas Jefferson, and if he dies and the next one is shitty we can jut not vote for him to become the next emperor

>>
>>127941940
Not soon, but possibly yes. It's more likely now than ever before, at least.
We're not strongly republican, we were never strongly republican like people in hispanic countries or france or anything. A few people in the army (the navy is more loyal) decided to change the system, the emperor said he didn't want bloodshed and left peacefully, even though he was very popular at the time.
People didn't fight or die for the change, they just went along with it (a few tried to fight against it but got btfo because they were illiterate peasants against a proper army with cannons and shit)

>>127942134
if the Cortes had gone better it might take longer, but Portugal was also a shitshow back then and our MPs didn't like being treated like shit and having the portuguese politicians saying we couldn't even have judicial courts anymore.

It was then or never, methinks.
>>
>>127935816
sure thing, would you really like to put the future of your county in the hands of the majority of the people? I wouldn't trust 98% of Brazilians to do my taxes.

it would certainly be better than what it is today.

No PRI, for ex.

When I read this article I can't help but get pissed at the retards of the past
http://madmonarchist.blogspot.com.br/2014/04/empire-in-americas.html

And unlike Mexico, where it would be harder to keep an austrian king hated by half the country, we had a proper empire too, with all legitimacy one could have, whose history was tied to the country's history all the way back to the start, with no large opposition coming from society.

I am not talking about Don Maximilian the first, even though I respect him as a ruler and man I do not agree with the idea of installing a French puppet in Mexico, oh no my friend.... I was referring to Excmo. Don Agustin I of the first Mexican empire and father of independence, pretty much like Brazilian empire, Iturbide didn't faced any kind of opposition by the people, instead the same congress he created alongside the US betrayed him

Quick rundown

>1810 Napoleon invades Spain, unlike the Portuguese who fled to the Americas the Spaniard royal family got captured
>Instability
>Newborn United States of America is becoming powerful as fuck
>Cura Hidalgo, a priest in Dolores makes a revolt against the Spanish gov
>The Criollo's version was "Even though we agree with the independence of New Spain we are not comfortable with blood spilled" -t. Agustin de Iturbide
>Hidalgo fights 4 months of a civil war that lasted 11 years
>There are two sides
>"Los insurgentes" who fought for independence led by Morelos, Guerrero, and some others
>"Los Realistas" who were loyal to Spain led by Agustin de Iturbide
>Years pass by, the rebels being raped by Itubide's forces
>1820, the Insurgentes decimated, Iturbide sent a message to Vicente Guerrero asking for his surrender, Guerrero replied asking Iturbide to serve his country
>They both decide to meet at Acatempan and non-erotically hug
>February 24 1821 iturbide and Guerrero sign "Plan de Iguala" on which 3 guarantees are stablished

>Catholicism
>Independence
>Americans (referring to the natives) and Europeans are brothers

>The "Ejercito Trigarante" was created
>The newly formed army made a victorious parade trough the whole country while civilians and military joined them
>New Viceroy, Juan de O'donoju arrives to Mexico and accedes to dialogue with Iturbide
>He had no choice but to sign a pact that recognized the independence of the Mexican empire, "Tratados de Cordoba"
>Iturbide asked for Fernando VII as the new emperor or someone from his family (Bourbon)
>Spetember 27 1821 "Entrada triunfante, el ejercito Trigarante" (Victorious entrance, the ejercito trigarante) pic related
>The end of 300 hundred years of Spanish domain
>Fernando disapproved the tratados de Cordoba and didn't sent a Bourbon to reign in Mexico
>The people started seeing Iturbide, the victorious general as a possibility to occupy the throne

The army was filled with positivist cultists, their chief, who was a monarchist until the very day he created the republic, got tricked into thinking he was gonna be arrested by the new PM republicans who never managed to elect many deputies, and who got mad that after this PM a guy who cucked him would be the new one. The army was mad for a while due to bs reasons, some people were mad their slaves got freed (only some 20% of blacks were slaves by then, abolition was gradual) and catholicucks who got involved in a conflict between freemasons and ultramontanist jesuits

We never had a mass-movement in favor of republicanism, and it was never popular among the people (only le anointed intellectuals and le progressives liked it)

>Congress decides to make him emperor
>Iturbide asked the congress to create a constitution
>"Yeah, sure dude" said the congress which is full of Freemasons, Jews and american spies
>Congress accused him of tyranny for asking them to do their work
>Not to mention the financial chaos that the war brought
>After many assassination attempts Iturbide arrested 66 clerics and members of the congress
>1822 Iturbide finally decides to get rid of the congress and forms a court
>December 2nd of the same year, the infamous governor of Veracruz... Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna began a revolt against the empire, soon, Iturbide's friends like Vicente Guerrero and Nicolas Bravo joined Antonio's forces

>As a fun fact, Santa Anna pretended Iturbide's sister who at the time had about 60 years, Iturbide gently shows him the exit of his house as he showed to be a brute, later when he was governor of Veracruz during the empire Iturbide made a visit without warning, he accused him of corruption and gently shows him the exit once more

>Eventually Iturbide restored the congress and in march of 1823 he abdicates the throne leaving to Europe
>Congress made him a traitor and sentence him to death if he ever put a feet in Mexico again
>At this time, as Iturbide left Mexico, center America did as well
>At the same time, Spain was planning on reconquering Mexico
>After hearing this, Iturbide decided to return to mexico and offered his sword in case of war
>little did he knew that the congress sentenced him to death
>As soon as he set foot on Mexico the congress sentenced him to death
>Without a lawyer, decree, not even a priest to confess he got shot in Padilla, Tamaulipas

Mexico recognizes Miguel Hidalgo as the founding father

>Seeing as Maximilian wasn't doing anything important he wants him to be the new emperor of Mexico
>False letters and greetings from Mexico arrive to Maximilian's house in Miramar

The same dynasty that created the country and reigned until 1889. In 100 years out of power they kept uncucked, even though they spent years in France.

Luis Philippe, in the vid above, for ex, campaigned against a proposed new migration law that was 100% cucked and open borders (and the most absurd parts got vetoed due to it) and talks about the islamic danger.

France put him in power, later, he showed to be more Mexican than Austrian and France stopped supporting him because Max wasn't capitulating and Prussia was becoming crazy

>>
>>127951843
most brazilians don't learn shit about the period, don't know shit about parliamentarism and have no idea how our monarchy worked.

It's a growing movement, but it's not a mass movement yet.

They're organizing, more people claim to be monarchist than ever since 1889, books about the period are all getting more popular, and there is increased interest in the imperial age, a new documentary series (linked above) will be put online about the period, more authors claim to be monarchists, there is currently a rediscovery of brazilian political history going on (especially XIXth century politics, especially our conservative tradition), but I can't claim you'll just walk into a bar and meet a monarchist.

Seems more likely to happen now than in any year in the last century, but the idea of this proposal (I doubt it'll pass) is to help increase awareness of the issue.

One thing to notice is that we never had a strong republican movement, shit just happened out of nowhere, with no public support, and people went along with it (banning monarchist literature for 100 years helped, too). It's also really hard to defend our republic, since it was a complete failure.

See these for the (not so) quick rundown
