You're more right than wrong. The Hannity advertisers backing down was because enough people wrote them to say that they wouldn't be using their services if they cut ads thanks to some idiots with an agenda. Hannity is the exception here for right though simply due to his massive viewership.

This strategy can be used by both sides, but the reality is that the left seems better at it. They consistently damage right wing (or accused right wing) individuals, groups and entities with these tactics (Sam Hyde, YouTube, etc). Intel and GG was an example of how much better they are at this than we are. GG got Intel to pull ads only to see the left, not just get the ads returned, but also see Intel invest millions into sjw bullshit.

Point is, I agree and these types of tactics, while useful, should be used smartly and specifically. Additionally, using these tactics against the left will only further create a sense of this being the new normal for advertisers and companies in general. This is a cursed sword in that while it may be used to slay some enemies, it can just as easily be used against you. Using this tactic, in a way, justifies political correctness in the culture as it's using outrage (feigned or real) as a way to manipulate public discourse.

The real problem is that while using this weapon might empower the enemy, not using it only cedes to them an effective tool for control. So we must be smart when we do this shit, and where we attack with the weapon, we must also defend our own twice as hard (like what happened with Hannity).
