Ive been to the Yucatan peninsula alot of times and I loved it, but its very dry and I love real tropical rainforests year round.

Ive been to Chiapas, but its kinda dangerous and Ive yet to travel to Tabasco, so its my last hope of a nice tropical, quiet and "touristy" (safe) place to live.

The mexican caribe is still the most kind and secure to foreigners.

Dont get me wrong. I fucking loved Chiapas. Saw alot of it and nothing ever happened. I just got a weird vibe from some people when I was in Tapachula and near the coast. Furthermore all my Mexican friends told me to be careful in Chiapas. This was like 3-4 years ago. Maybe things have changed, or they exaggerated.

Tapachula is dagerous even to natives, that's where all the ppl from central and south america cross to mexico, that's where the mafia and human trafickers are, they pack them there and send them to the caribean islands and then to florida, so you're not wrong in feeling insecure there, but the mayan route and colonial cities are quite safe.
