Prior Air Force here. I used to be stationed at a base where this type of work was the main mission. We had this type of technology and it was public knowledge over 10 yrs ago. I would not be surprised if we don't have satellites with lasers on them now capable of targeting multiple airborne missiles at once. The Army guys who ran the counter ICBM section of this base said 10 years ago the only scenarios we were worried about were Russia, China, a dirty suitcase bomb or an EMP.
