CO2 is absorbed by plants. That's their source material to manufacture glucose. Methane and Nitro are broken up chemically in the atmosphere. Also whenever it rains or snows, all those gases are grabbed by water vapor and fall to earth where plants and microbes utilize it.

Technically speaking, if you want to rid an area of smog and pollution, several aerostats with water vaporizers could theoretically clean the air. Water vapor would grab onto the ozone, which would assist in grabbing the pollution on its way down to the ground. Plants would take it the rest of the way.

Air pollution = free fertilizer.

Also, there's no proof man-made climate change exists. Computer models and pseudoscience cult fairy tales, coupled with fake scientist hubris does not real science make.

Because it's a lie? Because Co2 is actually a really shitty "greenhouse gas?" Because none of the climate models using Co2 as a greenhouse gas have matched observed data for almost two decades? Because at two predicted benchmark events have failed to show up on time? Because what's the point if China continues to dump unfiltered coal ash into the atmosphere to grow their economy while we destroy our own in pursuit of stopping a Heaven's Gate Rapture Doomsday Apocalypse that has failed to materialise twice since the high priests of The Global Warming Temple and The Reformed Church of the Holy Climate Change predicted it. The incalculable amount of variables which factor into climate are impossible for us to comprehend much less measure, disseminate and discern each influence with every other corresponding variable affected. It is closer to chaos than picking out a handful of environmental flags and stating such a blanket explanation as fact.

Even the simplest of processes become near chaotic when examined in ever increasingly smaller scale much less planetary. Improvements in data collection with disregard to localized environmental and topographic variables (changed or underreported), coupled with the sheer amount of data collected for comparison antiquates previous data in scope and methodology.

Climatology is political party, which explains the wildly unreasonable reaction to qualified dissension in peer review, refusal of data sharing and dismissal of the need for reproduction when errors and falsifications are present. If it had remained in the scientific realm, it would still be called Meteorology. That every climatologist concurs, what they were taught and are now teaching is fact, means nothing. Experimenter bias can be attributed to much more than a salary in the prestige of fronting humanity saving research in our dire final hour, receiving awards and accolades and earning a prominent place in the regulatory behemoth established to counter the contrived results before they show no fruition. It might just focus data gathering at predetermined locations of concentrated production of the conformational data required.
>>
The embedded politics are on display when all importance is placed on halting progress and limiting freedoms instead of countering the perceived effects through their own means of collection, disposal, or production of whatever they imagine will balance things out.

If man's influence on climate change was correctly represented as a hypothesis, it would not currently be the basis for the regulatory systems being devised, causing apoplectic opposition to the devastating economic ramifications and repression of civil liberties. Then research with the removal of politics being of foremost prominence in the exclusion of experimental bias would ensure the integrity of the studies and true consensus can be found.
>>
It should also be noted that if a greenhouse molecule is currently carrying the energy of one of these photons additional photons of the appropriate wavelength will just pass right through it as though it's not even there.

The sun emits light. Light has a different wavelength than heat radiation.
When light hits dark surfaces (like the earth), it's absorbed and causes the dark surface to get warmer. The darker surface then emits heat radiation, which, like I said, has a different wavelength from light. You may have noticed this yourself, if you leave something black in the sun, it gets hotter than if you leave something white.
Any given molecule can only absorb certain wavelenghts. CO2 does not absorb light, but it does absorb heat radiation. This means that the light will pass straight through on its way from the sun to earth, but when it has been absorbed by the surface and converted to heat waves, it will be absorbed by CO2 on its way out.

>light and heat have different wavelengths
>light will get it but heat won't get out
>light hits something dark and makes heat
Here's where your point falls apart. Light giving something heat isn't how it works, it's that light (from the sun) comes with heat wavelengths. If the CO2 is blocking heat wavelengths then it would reduce the amount of heat coming from light hitting something.

Light does not generate heat. Light moves with heat because it's coming from a fucking reactor in space.

First, all climate models have basically been wrong because they model their findings with an amplification rather than a dampening feedback of co2 emissions. Reality is much more complex than a single process. There's countless feedbacks that effect climate temperature.

Second, climate change legislation only hurts society and gives an upper hand to other nations. Putting artificial limitations on industry and commerce is a stupid idea.

Fluctuations are entirely within the models of climate change. In fact it's the point. The claim is that cycles can safely be in a range, Let's use 4-7 as an arbitrary value scale. But with climate change, the environmental factors are causing fluctuations between 2-9. Outside the safe range for the environment to survive the seasons.

The thing is that Earth's blackbody radiation (the "heat" it emits as photons) is close to 100% infrared. Since it is emitted mostly at ground level, more greenhouse gases (which make the atmosphere opaque to IR light) cause more of that radiation to be reabsorbed in the atmosphere and increases the temperature of the system

What's so difficult to understand?
Electromagnetic radiation consists of different wavelengths.
Do you understand what this means?

Light is electromagnetic radiation of certain wavelengths. Not all electromagnetic ratiation is light, because not all electromagnetic radiation has the same wavelengths as light does.
Electromagnetic radiation can have many different wavelengts, and only a few of these wavelengths are considered light.

CO2 does not absorb electromagnetic radiation within the wavelengths we consider "light", but it does absorb electromagnetic radiation of higher wavelengths. This means that the parts of sunshine that's considered "light" is not stopped by CO2 when it enters the earth.

Climatology is not a science.
Paleoclimatology is a form of journalism rooted in science. While a science, nothing about it can make accurate predictions. Their famous "hockey stick graph" is a logical fallacy, an appeal to authority. Shameful none of the 100% of climatologists called them out on that. (evidence of a ring or racket.)
Climate change modeling, on the other hand, attempts to fill that gap. We put in the data provided by the paleoclimatologists and out comes a horrifically dangerous and dire warning. We test the model by inputting random data and out comes the same horrifically dangerous and dire warning. They are a notch above a pseudo-science. I suspect they're hoping an AGI can piece it all together for them.

Or they could actually come up with real solutions, instead of wasting time on only postponing it while making a certain group of people rich as fuck. Cause unless you can get emissions to 0 or start pulling it out of the atmosphere, you aren't changing shit. And even if you managed that, you'd only be solving the man-made part, and just praying the Earth's natural processes don't result in something inhospitable to humans anyway, which has happened many times already.

The models have been tested on the past climate, and give accurate results. We know the climate of the past, and the models output results really close to what we know to be the case.
Unless a new factor has been added, that never have existed before, the models should still be accurate. What do you think has changed? And why hasn't it been discovered?

solar activity was much weaker in the past. the same CO2 now would overheat the planet far beyond human capability to live.

The fuck are you talking about, high levels of CO2 led to plant life exploding, which increased the level of oxygen in the atmosphere, which poisoned something like 98% of life on earth. I said nothing about man-made climate change or meteors. The point is that life can and does change the environment on a massive scale.

And that right there is the kernel of the problem with climate change debate. There's no nuance, there's not even an honest effort to try to find the truth, there is only blind partisanship.

Which is why I don't find climate change that interesting as a debate topic. Because there's not really any intelligent thought going on anymore, whatever partisan loyalties you have also dictate what you think about climate change.

http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/abs/10.1175/2008BAMS2370.1

>Free Access The Myth of the 1970s Global Cooling Scientific Consensus
>An enduring popular myth suggests that in the 1970s the climate science community was predicting “global cooling” and an “imminent” ice age, an observation frequently used by those who would undermine what climate scientists say today about the prospect of global warming. A review of the literature suggests that, on the contrary, greenhouse warming even then dominated scientists' thinking as being one of the most important forces shaping Earth's climate on human time scales.

if it's trapping heat in it should trap an equal amount out. If it is redirecting heat to stay in, it should be redirecting heat to stay out.

Tell you what, next time you open a soda kys for helping to add CO2 to the environment.
>>
>>127860653
> so isn't it naive to think that doubling co2 would lead to such an increase in temperature if it escapes so fast?
A bit. The relationship between temperature, emission of IR radiation, co2 in the atmosphere is a lot more complicated than that and certainly not linear. Obviously, close to the current equilibrium, a small increase in co2 will always result in a small increase in temperature.
>why hasn't anyone ever tested how different greenhouses retain heat with different amounts of co2
This has been studied to boredom AFAIK. The problem when you try to apply lab experience to the whole planet is that there are many feedback mechanisms you can't really account for
>Wouldn't you need an extreme exponential increase in co2 for a linear temperature increase?
Not really if there is a positive feedback somewhere in the process. For example, a warmer Earth will have more clouds (more water vapor); as vapor is a very strong GHG, this makes the Earth hotter, which then produces more vapor, etc

Do humans have an effect on climate? Yes
Do humans have a big enough effect to drown out natural things like volcanoes, solar cycles, etc.? No
We are in the middle of another millenial warming phase. Go through history and look societies in temperate zone thrive during the 200 years before and 200 years after a millenial point. While tropical areas thrive during the Middle years 500bc,500ad,1500ad. The one exception was Europe during 1500 and they trhived because they could ship food from tropical areas.
Simplified of course.

If the heat addition and temperature are at steady state (which means the energy in and energy out are equal) and then the temperature starts rising that means something happened to either the energy in or the energy out. If the energy in is constant (solar activity) then the energy out (radiative heat from earth) must be the cause

You're sort of right but you keep confusing light and heat as different things. "Heat" in this case is just a different spectrum of EM radiation than "light." So it absorbs the lower wavelength and emits a higher wavelength. Also earth is not a black body so it does reflect quite a bit of light.
>>
>>127858184
Just so nobody copies this line of thinking, this is how the greenhouse effect works:

>sun emits energy that passes through greenhouse gases like CO2 and methane
>some of that energy reflects off the Earth, but in a form which does NOT pass through greenhouse gases
>reflected energy that would normally bounce back into space is trapped

This isn't a doomsday scenario, however, and anyone who tells you otherwise has been jewed. Organisms which thrive in an atmosphere high in greenhouse gases will rise to consume it, maintaining a livable ecosystem. Humans will continue to grow in number. Americans won't accept refugees and continue being based.
