I was raised as Catholic but at around the age of 13, my religious beliefs stopped being important. It didn't help that my parents were non-practicing adherents. After falling out of religion I got into paranormal and spiritual shit, which I suppose was a filler for the void that moving away from religion had created. Eventually I realized how both religion and the non-religious beliefs seemed equally fantastical, in many ways inconsistent, but more importantly, too detached from the reality we live in. Now with the knowledge that any spiritual-like experiences can be induced by drugs, it's simply impossible for me to go back to holding any religious or spiritual beliefs. It's not that I actively oppose them, I simply question their validity, so I can't ever be faithful and loyal to them.
