He's being moved permanently to "60 Minutes". He's not fire, he just can't make the nightly news watchable by anyone under 60 years old--no one can, but networks don't want to abandon the format because of the legacy.

They should probably change to a talk-show format, and rely on personalities, and controversial issues. They won't do that until the boomers die off and they can't stack the 5pm-7pm slots with nothing but drug commercials for age-related diseases.
