Also what the "black" side of this argument assumes is that existence is a zero sum game, that they need a "piece of the pie" that whites are not giving up. This is not true. We're talking about random individuals from multiple scattered tribes who were enslaved and shipped to the Americas HUNDREDS of years prior and their descendants were wholly Americanized in language, tradition and music and had absolutely zero connection with Africa.

This myth that jazz, blues and rock are somehow "Black music" is a historically revisionist concoction of the 1960s civil rights movement that continues to be promoted for politically correct reasons and has no basis in fact.
