At this point in my life I'd like to either go to college or take up a trade, but then I'm ~4 years away from completing either and making decent money, so I'll be close to 40 years old and just starting my "professional career" if I were to do that. It's depressing as fuck.

I went on a date last weekend, expectedly the girl asks what I do for a living, and I have to explain to her that I work the night shift as a production supervisor at a meat factory gutting turkeys. Unsurprisingly she wasn't impressed. You haven't felt depression until you're in that kind of situation time after time. That's what it is to me now, it's not about the money, it's about the lack of prestige or reputation. When you get older without an education or any real success in life it starts to weigh heavily on your pride and confidence. When I was in my 20s I didn't give a fuck, I was free, adventurous, no thought or worry about my future. Now? All I can do is wish I'd taken another path in life and pray for a lucky break at some point in time.

Point is your life isn't so bad and you're equipped to succeed.
