We had one of the few plotters in our lab. We always had students ask us to print their posters.
Invariably, they had shit wrong (even after we told them make sure to double check everything before we hit print, that ink was expensive) they would us to redo it. We had a two-strikes rule; only two chances to get it right or it's off to Kinkos.
Finally we just stopped buying ink for it.
Too much of a hassle, especially at the end of the semester when they all came to get their shit printed at the same time.
That didn't stop them from asking, though.
We'd purposely schedule field work those weeks, so they'd be knocking on the door of an empty room.

The majour/minor system is pretty fucked desu. When my uni changed to a semester system all courses got to do a semester of another on, the engineering accredited board would not allow this, so I cannot think how a course where you are doing 60% of engineering and 40% other crap is legitimate . I have also looked for engineering jobs in both the US and UK. In the US it is very rare to find something that pays and does not require +2 years experienced.

I know from experience that STEM classes have very fucking few points invested in anything that isn't proctored right now. The reasons are obvious enough. Soultions manuals are easy to get (and, lets face it, horribly convenient for studying), Wolfram is a thing, and there's simply just no point in wrapping all of these LIFE SKALLZ presentation projects up in a stem course.

The one exception that springs to mind from my curriculum was Chemistry, however, so it might just be a thing in those fields that are as much life science as they are natural science.

My sister went to a school in the US and had to take mandatory "general education" courses, which were unironic feminist/leftist indoctrination courses. She was later made a TA in the course and sent me some of the essays she had to grade. The class was junior-level but the essays looked like they could have been written by a middle schooler for how shit they were.

My friend from college is a schoolteacher, she teaches sped kids and it's basically her job to force the speds who are retarded and don't care to graduate. Their (equally retarded) parents come in screeching about how little johnny MUST go to Yale, and that little johnny is a smart boy and therefore is entitled to a Yale degree. The entire college culture of this stupid country is beyond retarded. Johnny isn't smart, he's lazy as fuck, and literally doesn't even want to go to college.
So here's the funny part. Part of her assignment last year was to do research about how many kids pushed to go to college through sped programs actually succeeded. Like, 90% of kids in the special needs program graduated highschool. 90% of them went to college, and some to even really good colleges, yet barely any ever graduated or even made it past the first year, at college. Wasting tens of thousands of dollars. So yes, the special needs program and "no child left behind" policies exist exclusively to push kids to go to colleges where they will fail and waste their money.
I have my thoughts as to who might benefit from such a trend...
