I'd be more inclined to believe it if globalists didn't aggressively import 3rd-worlders.

It seems more likely that the plateuing/declining birthrates in 1st world nations (ie, white western nations and honorary white nations (japan)) is a side effect of post modern culture (women get educated and work instead of being mothers, both men and women spend their youths and young adulthood acquiring debt and being distracted by idle pass times). Globalists/statists push for these trends because they diminish the significance of families (a competing authority), increase the reliance on the State, and are good for business.

The problem is, post-modernism is not sustainable. The current western economy is based on an infinite growth paradigm, but the current western culture can't provide the growth of labor/consumers needed to match that paradigm.

So the globalists look around and notice that places like Africa are basically human factories and figure they can use them to top off the growth percentages in stagnant first world countries.

Turns out, culture doesn't translate as well as was hoped, and when you import thousands to millions of Africans, they form urban ghettos and simply don't integrate (ie: become western -style, debt-ridden, consumers).

This doesn't bother the globalists/statists in the short term. For the globalists, this influx of sub-literate, low-skilled workers drives down labor costs. For the statists, they are a new underclass looking for government assistance, and more than ready to vote/riot for it.

In the medium to long term, things aren't so bright for anyone. The New Europeans never become as educated or productive or consuming as their white predecessors and the State is dragged down by the welfare burden.

Had they left well enough alone, maybe we could have peacefully transitioned from a post-modern, consumerist society, into a post-consumerist, zero-growth model.

This is the most logical answer I could think of too.

They need population growth because the monetary system relies of ever increasing debt, inflation, prices, demand. If the consumer population halved in a generation you'd see massive deflation. Prices of homes, land, office buildings, etc.. would crater. This would basically destroy the western financial system.
