My dad did exactly this
He grew up poor in a family of 10 and worked on the farm until he went off to work in the factories when he was 14; he was arrest at 18 and escaped from the Communist government shortly after
He lived life on the run until finally escaping to America where he met my mother

I'm reading this Aaron Richards "blog" over at imgur, and it's nearly impossible to extract coherent statements from his writing style. Every sentence contains cliche + adhom, eg, "As usual, dickhead deniers ..." so maybe 60% of each paragraph are these nonsense phrases you have to mentally subtract then re-read to make sure you pulled the factual claim he's trying to make out of the noise. I've read through maybe 20 of these, and in most cases he's denying context, or mis-stating the significance of the image, graph, or argument he's replying to. I can't tell if it's an intentional rhetorical technique, flooding the reader with nonsense to distract from the lack of (or errors) in his statements, or if he's just mentally ill, compulsively spouting abuse like the nutcases wandering around downtown screaming at garbage cans.

If I didn't, I wouldn't be here. There are many layers of truth about all of this and many distractions. Obvious stuff like lampshades are easy to dismiss, but I don't know enough about the economics back then.
