What's wrong with taxes, /pol/?
Some taxes are too high, I guess
Taxation is theft.
>>127595292
Then how are you expected to build a civilization, maintain law and order, infrastructure, etc?
If the Romans didn't charge taxes, what would be left of their civilization for us to admire?
>>127595522
their taxes were pretty low
>>127595907
proof?
Also low taxes over a massive population is to be expected. no?
>>127595907
So you meant high taxes are theft.
>>127595123
Too much goes to the citizens of other countries.

Necessary Evil that gets abused/exploited.

why I have to pay for something that I will never benefit?
the contributor should have the capacity of choosing what is done with the taxes.
Taxation is theft. So we should limit our use of theft and use the spoils appropriately and efficiently (A.K.A. : I'm paying taxes so some jackass single black mother in Detroit can buy Jordans with welfare.)
>>127595123
It takes our money.
>>127595123
It's less about the taxation itself than what is done with it.
Maintaining the roads is one thing. Subsidizing your miserable neet ass or africa is another thing entirely.
>>127596549
Nothing would ever get done.
The whole point of living in a society is that you pay into stuff that may or may not benefit YOU directly, but will, ultimately be a greater use to the society as a whole.
Taxes are what separate us from animals. Look at animals and their level of sophistication. They almost always work on the "what shall benefit ME" mentality, and they are nowhere near our level. Actually, the most complex animal systems, like ants, dolphins, elephants, etc. are when animals give up their selfishness and devote energy to the colony, pod, herd, etc.

Foreign aid makes less than a percent of US budget.
>>127595123
I wouldn't mind paying taxes if I lived in a country that actually cared about its people and build a working system. Like if I lived in a National Socialist country I would want to pay taxes to help my nation, but in a country like America I don't want to pay shit because this country is a pile of trash and the government is using our money AGAINST the peoples interests.
>>127595123
Tax is efficient use of communal gains if it isn't spent on administration, but you can't tax a nation into prosperity.
>>127596072
Don't know if he did, but I do. Taxes have their place. Basic schooling, roads, and other shit we all use are a legitimate reason to tax us. Gibs or other shit for freeloaders is theft.
>>127596966
And?
>>127595292
Taxation is not theft. As an adult, you willingly consent to live in a country with taxes.
>>127596966
yeah. and welfare is almost as big as the military.
>>127597418
And what? You're not going to pay taxes because 0.5% of the budget goes to foreign aid?
Most foreign aid is barely benevolent. A lot of it we make returns on.
>>127595123
> Muh taxes
Nothing is wrong with taxes as long as everyone pays them equally and the revenue goes towards the proper role for government. Military, police, courts, and prisons.
Food stamps isn't a legitimate role for government.
A liberty minded form of taxation is import tariffs, sales tax, public space license fees (like radio spectrum, logging public forests, or fishing licenses)
>>127597602
Well that's what happens when 50% of the country lives at or below the poverty line.
>>127596034
The bureaucracy grows as the population grows. It's natural for taxes to grow faster than the population. At some point there's an equilibrium.
>>127597627
It doesn't count because it's only a little bit is basically the most retarded excuse ever.
>>127595123
Transparency and accountability. Technically a high tax should reduce my other, would be, expenses.
/thread
>>127597774
It's not an excuse. Every country pays foreign aid. And like I said, a lot of our foreign aid is foreign """aid"""
>>127597887
I'm sure single payer healthcare would significantly reduce my hospital bills, just as it does in Europe.
>>127596850
>Actually, the most complex animal systems,
>doesn't understand evolution
Fool, success isn't about 'complexity', it's about how well a species manages to stick around within a specific evolutionary context. You unenlightened ape

$2 trillion out of 3$ trillion budget spent on Medicare, Social Security, and Unemployment means all my money gets spent on retards that fucked up their own life, neets, and old people who should die if they haven't built up savings over their whole life.

Fuck Socialism

> A lot of it we make returns on.
Broken windows fallacy. Don't focus on what is seen, focus on what is not seen. We will never know what that money would have done in the private sector.

>taxes
You expect to do that, just ask for an extremely volatile opinion and not expect the thread to burst into flames?
To add my own gas to the fire: I have no issues with taxes in general. I render money to the government, and they give me service in exchange. Mostly what I expect from the gubmint:
>Personal safety (police and military)
>Maintenance and protection of infrastructure
>Regulation and safety of markets/possibly certain businesses
>Basic education for kiddies (not the babbysitting shit that passes for 'education' today)
>High risk research (the stuff businesses won't invest in)
>A little bit of social aid
I've really soured on the idea of "American value" of making other groups for somebody else's gibsmedats: housing subsidies, medicare/medicaid drug prices, the bottomless pit of welfare that exists for single moms, so on and so forth. Yet it is so prevalent in modern political campaigning.

Tell me more about Europe, America-sama~
The avarage Swede gets taxed 60% of their income through, meanwhile my cancer sick mother has to wait 4 months for a fucking test while Muhammad and his mom and grandparents are getting new iPhones, brand clothes and state bought apartments simply for showing up. Now where's the justice here? They pay NOTHING and get EVERYTHING. Explain how this is reasonable.
>>127597702
No. they're poor because of welfare.
