Once you have enough money that you you can earn money from just the interest, then yeah you could say that money is unearned.

But most billionaires work a ridiculous amount of the time to keep on making more money so it's a bit silly to say they're not working to keep earning.

As well, the money they keep in the bank is used to help fuel the economy. It's loaned out to individuals that are trying to make purchases for themselves or their businesses, which helps fuel the economy. So it's not like the money just sits there not doing anything.

If you want to complain that someone inherited their wealth then I'd have to ask why? Is it the idea that someone could provide so much for their children that their children may not have to work? Because that usually seems to be the case. That it's just jealousy that you weren't someone else's kid whose parents accumulated such wealth that you could enjoy a better life.

But there is the question of why exactly does someone that's all the rich need to have their inheritance touched? The money was already taxed when it was earned (including what was earned from interest), so it seems unfair to tax it because someone died. Especially since this can include someone who owns a business.

Like someone could own a business worth over a few million dollars, yet personally only take in about $60k a year. If you decided to tax a person inheriting the business based on the value of the business, you could end up forcing the business to close down.

What's the alternative?

In a capitalist society, you will end up some individuals being richer and able to continue growing their wealth to much more than others. But even in a pessimistic scenario, those wealthy require having everyone as a whole to have more money over time so they can make more money off of those people.

I'd say that sort of system runs pretty well unless those wealthy individuals are wanting to profit on the global stage since it leads to the living standards of everyone getting averaged out, even when that means getting averaged out alongside Africans living in huts.

Personally though, I'd say you need some socialist systems in place like free education and welfare to prevent people being absolutely screwed by the economy.

Plus after seeing how some people are in their retirement years, I can't disagree with social security as people fucking suck at saving money if left to their own devices.

Like in the US I think once you're 65 you can start taking social security, but you get more if you take it at 66 instead, even more if you take at 67, and so on. Yet plenty people take it as soon as possible and quickly regret it due to not thinking things through.
