Fascism in general, National Socialism in particular. If you think that the obsession stems from aesthetics, I recommend you read a few books on how these ideologies work: Mein Kampf, For My Legionaries, Codex Fascismo series by H.R. Morgan, and anything by Oswald Mosley. Those are a good start and will help clarify exactly what Fascism is beyond simple authoritarian leadership.

Monarchism had it's hay day in the appropriate era, but is far from best, and most likely will never work again.

I just can't see it working well in a world with our levels of technological advances. In those eras the government structure was fairly simple, and people didn't actually interact with it often. If you were not in the noble class life was actually rather shitty. People today have technology that is so advanced that giving credit to a monarch seems completely ridiculous, which is how that used to work. The monarch would use his divinely earned wealth to alleviate the shitty conditions of his subjects, which is what gave him his continued approval (beyond divinity). Subjects would be highly competitive to become a noble, and so technological advances were presented to him in a way to gain that status and receive further funding. The monarch would then order the propagation of these inventions to please and strengthen his kingdom, and at the same time take the credit. So today, how could that be possible to achieve? The order of religious faith and absolute power is a strong and organized one sure, but this principle is already established in Fascism, which is a far more applicable ideology to the modern world/order.

I know there is a lot more to the functionality of monarchism, but that specific example is why I'd regard it as 'outdated'. Also the masses are just not that religious anymore. Either way, both would still require man to take up an entirely different life philosophy - which is undoubtedly the most difficult goal of Fascism.

Monarchism is not as bad as you make it out to be. Yes it wasn't good for the poor in the medieval ages, but it would not be the same if it was implemented now.

I don't think it was bad. I just can't see it gaining support without firstly changing how people perceive divine authority within one man - which seems almost impossible where secularism is taking over. Then, how would the monarch be able to take responsibility and accountability for his actions in a technological sense? Corporations and independent businesses already exist to take care of it. The monarch would have to seize all finances and then redistribute it accordingly to better the lives of all his subjects - as in investing into agriculture, construction, and inventions to raise the standard of living. This sounds nice, and could revive his glory by eliminating wasteful and harmful spending, but no one will stand for the fist step. Even if he just turned these inventors into the new noble class, they would heavily resist him based on currently existing stigmas.
