As soon as a work is physically completed, whether it be a painting or a recording, it becomes an instrument to be used in future art.

That's why so many new art pieces seem so left field. While a lot of them are "just because you can doesnt mean you should" (especially things created by women... e.g. filming your own shitting asshole, menstrual blood paintings, etc...), a lot of them use new processes like developments in technology to reframe the things and ideas that came before them. The important thing is how you repurpose this artwork from the past - Andy Warhol focused the aesthetic of commercial packaging design, and vaporwave as a genre plays off the concept of copyright law.

So, once the cat is out of the bag, you can't put it back. We are never going back to Rembrandt and Bach, at least not in the same context.

Art hasn't caught up. They are still pushing the boundaries of sexual material in art to show how open-minded they are, but they have not yet been pushed into censorship of politically incorrect art.

What the art world needs is new edge. All the sex stuff is old hat and boring. They needs something new that will send the critics into conniptions.

For example, I have taken this simple graph of black and white SAT scores showing absolutely no progress over 30 years and added some artistic effects. Now all it needs is to e expanded to 30 x 30 feet and hung in a museum exhibit.
