Can an oldfag /sg/ anon, give me a rundown on Assad's Syrian Armed Forces leftover strength? I know there are a lot of Assad supporters here but can he realistically take over Daraa, Idlib, Damascus & Aleppo countryside within the next 5 to 6 years?

Is such a task even realistic? I know ISIS is done in northern Syria and Iraq, but regime forces have not even touched the oil rich ISIS territory east of Palmyra.

Assad has about 40k men on the offensives in eastern Syria right now and that includes foreign fighters. Once ISIS are gone (they won't last until the end of the year if this keeps up), Assad will have no problem mopping up Daraa and Idlib.
