I think what people don't understand about the bill is it essentially nukes insurance as a concept. It lowers standards for employer-prided healthcare plans and could and reasonably will drop almost all coverage. Hospital stays, prescriptions, mental health, preventative care, all of that is cut right out.

This could lead to more market-sensitive pricing as insurance simply ceases to exist, though that remains to be seen. The issue with healthcare isn't so much how we pay for it, it's how much it costs. With the current system, prices are almost entirely invisible and they've spiraled completely out of control. Currently it's far cheaper to travel to another country to get many procedures done and that really can't continue. If insurance dries up and prices don't collapse then we're in serious trouble, but healthcare is a bubble market that needs popped soon.
