Red pill me on child labor laws. Are they really that helpful?

Child labor laws were originally designed to keep children out of dangerous factories and other jobs that had atrocious working conditions with low pay. So yes they are helpful.

They are a two-edged sword, on one hand they prevent children from being pressured, tricked, or coerced into labor which might permanently damage their health (see mining and other industrial professions). On the other hand, children should be familiarized with the working world early so that they can better acclimate to things like working in a team, serving customers, handling money, earning money, etc.

I think the laws should be amended so that kids 13 and up can take part in any job that they can preform to sufficient standards so long as that job does not demand they preform manual labor or work in a regularly hazardous environment.

This would open up options for poor kids whose families can't afford to send them to good schools, they would have connections to future employment, develop their interpersonal skills, and be earning some money for themselves to eventually become self-sufficient at earlier ages.

I say 13 is a good age. I started working at 13 at my aunts place. I do feel bad for the Chinese kids at there parents restaurants
