Literally what is the harm in raising min wage? I make 25 per hour and it doesn't get me shit where I live because income tax and cost of living is ridiculous where I live ((portland or))
I can't imagine how min wage employees are able to live
>>
jesus christ that picture is disgusting, worse than gore
>>
>>127364269
move to a cheaper area? I can't live in Hollywood,CA with my minimum wage either :(
>>

Only when you don't know what you're looking at. Possum's have pouches and that's where they keep their babies until they're done nursing.
>>
>>127364269
Because you fucking shitskin, you'd be fucking me over.
18 Dollars an hour is a lot where I live and I can pay all my bills with no problem.
Raising minimum wage puts me that much closer to being poor and in the same problem as you.

Stop trying to ruin other people's lives with YOUR bad choices.
Live somewhere cheaper.

So that's a possum. I always wondered.

>Literally what is the harm in raising min wage?

>rise in unemployment
>prices rise from merchants
>people who weren't good with financials before they got state mandated raise are suddenly going to be better with them now and aren't just going to end up with a closet of new clothes and shiny rims on their car
>causing employers to cut costs in other places of their business which may affect the process of it altogether
>relying on the state for gibs from your employer in lieu of you attaining new skills or seeking better opportunities

spelled opossum, fun fact

Moving to a cheaper location is the only solution. This will force the communities to deal with a shortage of employees. This will then drive up the wages offered to remaining employees.
>>
>>127364792
Good. I hope they raise min wage just to fuck people like you over.
>>
>>127365579
They are crazy things. I usually see them at night. They are blind as fuck I think. They go hunting or whatever at night, drives my dogs crazy. When cornered they will hiss and leave their mouth open staring at you. Then they will play dead. I think their tail is prehensile. My grandmother was an animal rehaber and she showed me a baby one she was taking care of one time. Full grown they are bigger than a cat.

Because when you arbitrarily raise minimum wage, you also raise the requirements for getting a minimum wage job.

I live in the UK, working in a factory requires a minimum of at least an "adult qualification" in English and Math (basically about American highschool level), you need experience in a similar role and ideally you need to be qualified to work with heavy machinery and dangerous chemicals so you can take apart and clean machines (which is now your job and not the job of a specialist).

If you don't at least have those, you've got almost no chance of getting factory work in most factories. A minimum wage job shouldn't require shit to get except for showing up to work on time.
>>
>>127366082
they are so fucking cool. But I agree the above pic looks disturbing if you don't know what you are looking at
>>
>>127364269
Move to Tigard, Oregon City, Gresham or Hillsboro, retard. $25/hr is more than enough to live in Portland.

Look into what happens in the US in places where the min wage gets forcefully raised.

I mean, if your career field is in robotics/automation, it is in your best interest.

I think folks have this idea that raising the minimum wage makes money appear out of thin air. Personally, I LOVE the idea of paying folks way above the min wage. (ie, Hobby Lobby). However, I believe forcing everyone to do it will tank the economy. It should be encouraged to pay above minimum wage, not forced.

Raise the minimum wage to $15 and you'll never order food from a human again. Raise the minimum wage to $20 and you'll put most small businesses out of business.

The only way to do it would be to significantly lower taxes on business/payroll and significantly increase taxes on employees to offset the much higher human capital expenses.

Totempole-nigger here. They make 11/10 pets. They're kind of slow and easy going and if you raise them from pups they're ultra docile and they like warmth and food and all they want to do is eat and snuggle, you can house train them and they're great pets if you keep more nocturnal hours. Best pets I ever had truth be told. Only sad downside is the cap out at 3 years max in the best possible conditions in loving captivity and when I say 3 years that last year will be them almost helpless and dependant on you so realisticly more like 2 tops. Shit sucks cause that's just enough time for you to get real attached like so it hurts the most when they're gone.

>>127364269
It would cause an enormous problem, people would have disposable income that would be spent back into the local economy. Of coarse US capitalism demands that everyone is fucked over, everything is used up and run into the ground, so the very idea of money circulating is insane.

Citation provided. If this is not enough, look into what happened at McDonalds. Or just think about what you think you would do if you were a ceo and the min wage increased. Would you increase the payroll budget? Some ceos will go one way or the other, however either way I believe this WILL hurt the employment rate.

where i live minimum wage is 12/hr which is livable if you work full time at one location and split rent with a room mate or live at home what a lot of people need is more hours not more pay. if they can work a 9-5 for min wage they wont go hungry, but there wont be much time to improve yourself, ie trade school
>>
>>127367845
Wow that's cool. I had no idea. Sucks they live so short, 2 yrs isn't much at all. They do look comfy though - and slow, yeah, I have never seen then run more like creep through trees and fences.

If everything else will get inflated as well what good would $25 an hour do?
>>
>>127368811
Everyone knows what a loaf of bread costs, the price is based on supply and demand. You can buy more fucking bread if you earn more money, the baker then might sell a bit fucking more eh, maybe his prices would be more competitive when he sells more volume instead of the one loaf a week to some poor cunt on food stamps.
>>
>raise minimum wage
>employers raise prices of goods and services in order to afford the new minimum wage whilst maintaining current profit margins
>end result you're not any richer
It's not hard to grasp. The numbers on your payslip mean nothing, it's the purchasing power that matters.
>>
>>127367206
It's common sense idiot. Labor costs more, so businesses will be willing to pay for less, and be more selective with people they do hire.
What kind of retards do they make on that little island over there?
>>
>>127364759
even more disgusting
>>
>>127369703
Furthermore the middle class gets poorer, it's almost not even debatable that the price of goods will rise rapidly to match the new minimum wage but the paychecks of those making more than minimum wage aren't going to go up to match the inflation as well anytime soon. When someone calls for an increase in minimum wage what they're really asking for is for a short term increase in the standard of living for unskilled workers paid for by a hard to shake decrease in the standard of living for skilled middle class workers. That's drug addict logic.
>>
>>127364269
Living in Portland should be explanation enough. Look at Spokane WA - they're closing down longstanding small businesses because they can't afford to pay their employees.
