White Dwarf, Black Hole

[Begin Scene]

Captain Shaniqua commands the flagship USS Melanin in high orbit over the planet Cuckausoidus in an attempt to negotiate a treaty between the Cuckasoids and Afro-Klingons.

A conflict has emerged between the peaceful Afro-Klingons in search of a new planet to call home and the evil Cuckasoids who refuse to share their starports with the new arrivals.

After intense negotiations of ordering the Cuckasoids to capitulate with the demands of the peaceful Afro-Klingons it is determined the Cuckasoids represent a danger to the galaxy and must be destroyed.

I loved TOS, but hated all the other series. TNG was nothing more than liberal sneering at the modern day audience. DS9 felt forced. VOY pissed me off because of janeway's indecision. ENT was meh, the only good episode was the alternate universe episode.

If I was to make a star trek series, I'd make the klingons the villains again. The captain would be a renegade who hated klingons and was trying to bring to light klingon crimes of cannibalism which the federation had been covering up. The whole crew would be human and would hate aliens and only work with them when need be. I'd make so many sequel episodes to previous series to tie up loose ends. I'd have the captain destroy an entire planet just to make a point.

They're more than a thing. My model S P85D is my fucking favorite car ever, even though I've had the privilege of owning a few AMGs. I do miss my old SL-55 AMG, but goddamn, the Model S is something fucking awesome.

Pluses: Registering the car every year is damn near free. It accelerates so goddamn fast that I've never had the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. I can drive from one end of the country to the other and never pay a dime for electricity. Likewise I don't have to visit gas stations, I just plug my car in. Last year's entire maintenance cost was $500. The batteries are warranted for 80K miles. Autopilot is genuinely useful on freeways. My generation of vehicle won't be capable of autonomous driving, but all current models being sold will be, including the Model 3.

As well, Ford just fired its CEO for being an ICE dinosaur and will now focus on all the same stuff that Tesla is doing.

DS9 in general does a good job of presenting all sides of an argument. And it's tightly written. The thing is, it doesn't do designated villains and heroes. The entire point of the show is to provide more nuance to TNG's more starkly contrasting morality. TNG is a show of easily solved problems, after which the Enterprise moves on. DS9 is about what happens after that.

Honestly, come to think of it, it's a perfect allegory for dealing with the fallout of well-intended political decisions that didn't turn out as expected.

It's nothing more than an attempt to cash in on the action drama fad. It will make no attempt to appeal to Trek fans. Instead, it will use time tested soap opera techniques to hook normie audiences. There will be a "galactic evil" metaplot, and the bulk of the conflict with be internal character drama among the crew. Star Trek is just the brand they've chosen to plaster on this streaming product.

DeadTrek is dead. NuTrek is just an action series.

Something to consider: the production standards of TNG are fully accessible to the average kid in his parent's basement now. There only way you're going to see traditional format Trek stories is if fans make their own. Unfortunately, even the fan projects seem more interested in making dramatic movies, than coming up with a really good 45 minute exploration episode. That's very doable with modern consumer production equipment. Just invent a ship, and have the crew go on a standard exploration mission, and find some strange new worlds.

Another Trek set before TOS..

Why not set one during the first cardassian/federation war (imagine a really well done and emotional episode based on the Setlik III massacre)

or a setting just after the dominion war where star fleet is trying to rebuild and explore using more militarized star ships like pic related.

TNG and DS9 were so good because they were basically shakespeare in space. In terms of human interaction and the motivations of characters they were classically Western and generally RP enough.

A lot of the BP stuff comes from the post scarcity utopia conceit. A lot of the BP stuff is mitigated if you ask, "Would this work at all in a non-post-scarcity-utopia," but of course the audience was asked to do that less and less as time went on.
