Multiculturalism worked in Mexico because pre-hispanic culture was a theocracy which worked in a very particular way. If your tribe fought war against another tribe and the other tribe won, it mean that their God was greater, thus they adopted that god into their lives. When the Conquistadores won the war, the same applied.
