Depends. I was in prime time 2002-2014. Did an initial deployment with the airborne and then went to some assessment, selection and advanced schools when they were handing out slots like candy. Got to go to some sort of cool guy advanced school in between almost every deployment up until about 2010. If you get get selected and move into a unit that operates under JSOC, you will be busy. Business is booming for them all the time, in places you might not even suspect. If you are a leg or stick with a bigger unit, I think their deployments have slowed down massively. Pretty sure it's infinitely harder to get a slot into selection and advanced schools now than it was back then as well. Garrison life with big Army combat arms as enlisted tends to suck complete ass though.

If you hear something about SERE-C, then rest assured you didn't hear it from a reliable source. You don't talk about what happens there, but if you can make it through assessment, selection and training; SERE is nothing but another bump in the road. A very awesome experience that you really only want to do once. Get a lot out of it though.

Tiny suggestion, don't take an SOF contract with any branch. Go in with a guaranteed job you want and work to drop a packet. Otherwise, when you wash out (which is a probability for most), you go where they want you to go, which is usually a shitty job no one wants.
