True democracy is flawed because it is pretty much mob rule however to counter this we have a republic which evens the balance of power.

Democracy is a system that tries to be fair, not one that is actually very good at making good decisions. If the franchise can be kept small, to a limited group of people, then democracy can be effective. The larger the franchise though, the more dysfunctional and retarded everything becomes.

Getting rid of God and giving women the vote was a mistake.

Of course it's flawed. It will always be slower than an oligarchy, it will always have more dissent than a dictatorship.

The appeal of democracy is when something goes wrong, the people have to share in the blame. They can't just wash their hands of it and hope the next despot is better.
