My father was born in Austria in 1939 and growing up, I fucking hated him. He wouldn't let us wear shorts to school like the other kids, we always had to wear pants, he always had to part our hair a certain way and we weren't allowed to leave until he decided that our hair was just right, he always made us pray to a portrait of Papst Johannes Paul II after we got home and before we went to bed, we were only allowed to eat offentori (sp? it's some kind of savory potato dish, I fucking loved it, but my dad would only let us eat it once a week), once a week, he made us piss sitting down, ect, ect ect

When people tell me their parent's stories and consider them "conservative", I fucking laugh.

But after losing my papa six years ago and being in my early thirties, I can't help but look back and feel thankful to him. He raised me right, I've never been in trouble with the law, I graduated top of my class, have a good job, and am looking forward to starting a family of my own.

Compare most Hispanic countries with most very white countries and just look at how differently they treat sexuality. Brazil, Mexico, etc. for all of their famed/memed TV programs are the like are in many ways sexually conservative. Also being prude doesn't mean that you don't have a bunch of sex or aren't a degenerate about it, it's more about what you expect or how you act about it in public specifically.
